Trixter Added to Rock n' America

Rock n' America has announced Trixter will play the inaugural fest. I'm not sure of the day yet as it isn't listed on Pollstar.

If I'm remembering correctly, I've only seen Trixter live one time at that was at the second Rocklahoma as the major storm was blowing in. Their set was cut short but they were doing great until we all almost died.

Trixter is playing a few festivals this year beyond Rock n' America including M3 and the Great American Rib & Music Fest.

By the way, DJ Eddie Trunk will act as emcee at Rock n' America.

'Stupid Girl (Only in Hollywood)' Saving Abel -- New Song

I was poking around the Interwebs last night and looking up some information on Saving Abel. They were pretty good when I saw them live at Rock on the Range last year and I happened to think of their song "Addicted." At any rate, I discovered the band released the track "Stupid Girl (Only in Hollywood)" to rock radio not so long ago, so I thought I'd check it out.

Now, is "Stupid Girl" breakthrough? Absolutely not. It's modern rock, but I like the hook and the beginning bass part and it gives me hope for the band's new album. Saving Abel will release their new album Miss America June 8th. The band heads out on tour today and I'll be seeing them later this month at Rocklahoma.

The single "Stupid Girl (Only in Hollywood)" is available now via iTunes. Check it out first for free:

Bret Michaels Press Conference Highlights

My computer acted up during the Bret Michaels press conference at the Barrow Neurological Institute but here's what his doctor told the media. I hope I got it all!

Bret is out of the hospital and no longer in critical condition. He's now in stable condition at an undisclosed location. The doctor said he will continue to monitor Bret's condition every two weeks - and would advise him against doing any work for at least four to six weeks. As you know, Bret wants to start touring again in three weeks.

Other things:

Bret is very physically fit. He doesn't smoke. The doctors are "pleased they can't find the cause of the illness." He may have residual problems with backache and headache. 95% of patients with this type of brain bleed recover fully. The doctors will do another 3D magnetic angiogram before giving permission to go back on the road. Doctor was very concerned first few days Bret was in hospital and confirmed Bret had slurred speech.

Doctors didn't open his head or occlude a blood vessel. Basically, Bret is very, very lucky and is making a miracle recovery.

The hit in the head at the Tony awards did not cause the brain bleed. Nor did Bret's diabetes nor his recent appendectomy.

According to doctors, Bret isn't at a greater risk for a new bleed than any of us. In fact, Bret's condition was random - and could strike any of us equally.

Wherever Bret is, he's not alone but no one would confirm if he's with a medical team or just family.

For what's it worth, the doctor seemed a little confused on dates. He did stress Bret was admitted with the bleed on April 22, 2010.

Free Buckcherry Song Download, 'All Night Long'

I love free, legal downloads! Buckcherry is offering their new song "All Night Long" in exchange for a Tweet or a Facebook post. The song is great - a definite summer tune with a classic rock feel. This song makes me very excited for the new Buckcherry record and to see the band live again at Rocklahoma this month! Here's the release about the free download:

Buckcherry fans can download for free the new instant top down summer anthem, “All Night Long.” Fans can go to www.buckcherry.com to download the new single. Frontman Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson recently stopped by Nikki Sixx’s syndicated radio show Sixx Sense (www.sixxsense.com) to talk about their new album and premiere their new single, “All Night Long” on Nikki’s weekend show, The Side Show with Nikki Sixx.

Frontman Josh Todd adds, “after playing our song for Nikki, we wanted our fans to have it first and for free as a thank you for all of their support.”

Buckcherry have just completed their upcoming record, which includes the new title track “All Night Long.” The album follows late summer and tour in mid-June follow from one of America’s most identifiable vocalists and bands.

W.A.S.P. on Rock n' America?

Is W.A.S.P. playing Rock n' America? Well, no one really knows for sure I guess. The band was listed on the Zoo Amphitheatre website -- but now that info is gone. I think W.A.S.P. was even on the official festival website for a little while over the weekend too - but the last time I checked the band was pulled. So, it seems the lineup is a bit influx still. One thing is for sure, many more bands are still to be added. I'm still thinking around 10 acts or so, but it's not clear what sort of "level" these bands will be - but we've already got our headliners, so keep that in mind.

All that said, I'd really love to see W.A.S.P. I never have - they were supposed to play the first Rocklahoma but canceled. So, here's hoping - I'd love to hear "Wild Child" live.

'Someday Remember'

Let's talk obscure. My friend Lee Pistolero happens to front the Gypsy Pistoleros. If you've been to Rocklahoma you know them. If you like offbeat Glam, you know them. If you've been reading this site for awhile, you know them. Anyway, Lee posted a classic video on his Facebook last night that was just too good for me to pass up. I had to share with the class!

Before Lee was flamenco Glam, he was 80s pop rock. You know, something between a mix of The Bangles, Steve Stevens and The Cult. So where does that leave us? With "Someday Remember" by the band The Ice Babies. I have zero information on the band but I do know the EP Someday Remember was rereleased in 2005 via LCKF Music. You can buy the single "Someday Remember" from iTunes right now, by the way.

Check out the video below. I think I love it.
