Proof That Kotzen Wails

This is simply amazing. Watch Richie Kotzen wail on "Doin' What the Devil Says To Do."

Heck. Yes.

Aerosmith Headed To Theaters

My favorite band is headed to movie theaters! Aerosmith will release Rock for the Rising Sun in theaters around the world. I checked the movie website and there's no release date near me yet, but hopefully soon. Here's all the information:

ORIGINALLY INTENDED AS ARCHIVAL FOOTAGE, A CONCERT FILM THAT PROVIDES A RARE, BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT ONE OF ROCK’S BIGGEST NAMES ON AN AMBITIOUS AND EMOTIONAL INTERNATIONAL TOUR

This fall SpectiCast, in association with Eagle Rock Entertainment, will bring AEROSMITH: ROCK FOR THE RISING SUN, to the big screen in cinemas worldwide. For more information, visit www.aerosmithonscreen.com.

The film, directed by Casey Patrick Tebo, captures Aerosmith at seven different venues during their 2011 tour across Japan. The footage that makes up the film was originally only intended for Aerosmith’s personal archives, but the band and its management found it so captivating that they wanted to make it available to their fans.

In March 2011 Japan was beset by a huge earthquake, a monstrous tsunami, and the subsequent meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear plant. In fall 2011, despite advice to the contrary, Aerosmith brought their “Back On The Road” tour to Japan, a country with which they had always had a special relationship. Fans came out in droves and Aerosmith responded with some of the finest performances of their career. ROCK FOR THE RISING SUN features the classic tracks “Love In An Elevator”, “Livin’ On The Edge”, “Last Child”, “Walk This Way”, “Draw The Line”, “Sweet Emotion”, “Hangman Jury” and many more, with material drawn from shows throughout the tour. Bonuses include extra live tracks “Lick And A Promise” recorded at the Hiroshima Green Garden Arena and “One Way Street” taken from the Tokyo Dome.

This film follows the band on that tour combining full-length live tracks with behind the scenes footage, at times touching and emotional and at others humorous and insightful. “This is more than just a concert caught on film,” says Mark Rupp, Co-Founder and President of SpectiCast, “Because of the backstory behind the tour, ROCK FOR THE RISING SUN is really a fully-fledged motion picture, with a narrative that fans and those new to Aerosmith will become invested in.”

AEROSMITH: ROCK FOR THE RISING SUN will premiere on the SpectiCast network beginning 17 October 2013. For more information, visit www.aerosmithonscreen.com.

Monday Metal

Happy Monday Metal fans!

The weekend seemed to absolutely fly by. In fact, I feel like weekends are going faster and faster.

I was trying to think of something to write about for today and then it dawned on me: I need band suggestions! It's been awhile since I've asked for your band recommendations.

Later this month, I See Stars will release their new album and I'm very excited about that one. Other than that, however, I don't have any other releases on my horizon. This is where you come in. What album releases are you most looking forward to this fall and winter? I'm looking for lists here -- I need some new music to check out! Thanks and have a great day.

'Living With Def Leppard' Coming Soon

First there was the residency. Then there was the movie. Now there's a limited-run television series called Living With Def Leppard.

The series is more than just a look at the residency. The show will go into the band's history as well. Viewers will also get to see a more personal side to each band member because the series includes family members, friends from other rock bands and even the Def Lep crew.

At one point in the series trailer, a woman is highlighted as saying that Def Leppard created the soundtrack to her life. I honestly feel that same way. It sounds ridiculously cheesy, but that doesn't make it any less true.

Right now, there's no word when or where Living With Def Leppard will air.

Check out the trailer over at Rolling Stone's website.

Farewell Jan Kuehnemund

Vixen founder Jan Kuehnemund has died at age 51 from cancer. I didn't even know she was sick and 51 is very young to die. Here's the statement from the Vixen Facebook.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Vixen founder and lead guitarist, Jan Kuehnemund, who lost a fierce battle with cancer on Thursday, October 10, 2013. Though most well known for her gifted guitar playing and other musical talents, Jan was a rare friend and beautiful in every sense of the word. Humble, thoughtful, loyal and kind, she was the most gracious of women, possessing the quiet strength of a true warrior. She genuinely loved and appreciated her friends and fans more than most could ever know. Those who were most fortunate to have known her and loved her are heartbroken at the loss of Jan, whose spirit will shine through her music eternally."

Check Out The New Michael Schenker Song 'Where The Wild Winds Blow'

Michael Schenker will release Bridge The Gap in the UK on December 2nd. One of the album tracks is "Where The Wild Winds Blow" and you can hear that song now below. Basically, it rules. But of course it does. This is, after all, Michael Schenker.
