The Best Videos Of 1989 - 'Kid Ego'

I swear most people don't even remember that Extreme released an album before Pornograffiti. The band's self-titled debut came out in 1989 and "Kid Ego" was one of the feature songs.

The video for "Kid Ego" may not seem special at first glance, but you have to consider the rest of Extreme's output too. That debut is all Glam and so is the video for "Kid Ego." It's the band rocking out on a sound stage with curly big hair - and headbands! Ripped denim! Nuno Bettencourt shredding! Gary Cherone swinging from a rope! This video is basically a late 80s Glam time capsule and I'm here for it. Truly one of the greats.

Sunday's Best: Week 41, 2022

It was a really pretty fall week in southern Ohio but now it is kind of cold, which I hate. That probably means it's time to warm things up a little. For our Sunday's Best today - and this whole week really - we are going to count down the best rock music videos from 1989. There are so many good videos from that year, picking the best is hard, but also a fun activity. Please let me know if you agree with my choices!

Today, "Back To The Cave" from Lita Ford. The song is from her self-titled album. Great groove, great fun!

Steel Panther, 'Never Too Late' -- New Video

Steel Panther is back with a new song and video. They released "Never Too Late" Thursday. The song is on the upcoming album On The Prowl. The lyrics certainly are not Hemingway. I suppose that doesn't matter - you know you are getting a joke with Steel Panther. The fact that the band is made up of really talented musicians is just the cherry on top.

I wonder how long Steel Panther can keep it up? Clearly the band is making money or they wouldn't bother.

So Ozzy Osbourne Has A Makeup Line - And I Want It All

Celebrities with their own makeup, skincare and perfume lines are pretty standard these days. Still, most think of artists like Britney Spears or J.Lo when talking about such things. What about Ozzy Osbourne? Yes, the Prince of Darkness has a signature look and he sure has worn a lot of eyeliner in his day. Now, he has a makeup line too. If you want his dark look you can get it now via Rock and Roll Beauty. (Seriously, why didn't I start that company?)

The special collection is available at Ulta. That's a mega makeup chain for those who might not purchase such items on the regular. The eye shadow palette is in the shape of a bat... because, of course it is. The gothic makeup mirror looks really cool and would make a nice gift. The makeup brushes have a great carrier featuring a skull and Ozzy's logo. For practical purposes, the brushes would be great for travel. All jokes aside, the makeup line looks pretty solid. The lip colors are names of popular Ozzy songs like "Mr. Crowley" and "Perry Mason" (of course).

Rock and Roll Beauty is the same company that recently released a special Def Leppard makeup collection, too.

There's A New 'You Could Be Mine' Video

You read that title right - Guns n' Roses has released a new video for their song "You Could Be Mine." The song is on Use Your Illusion II (and it is also on the Terminator 2 soundtrack).

Both Use Your Illusion I and II are being re-released as a box set next month, along with 63 previously unreleased tracks -- and everything is completely remastered. To celebrate the remaster, Gn'R just released a new video for "You Could Be Mine" and the clip is below. It's a live video of the band performing the song at New York's Ritz Theatre back in 1991.

Nickelback Writes A Love Letter To 80s Nostalgia

Well, shit guys. I'm not crying, you're crying!

Nickelback's newest song "Those Days" just came out, complete with a lyric video. The entire package is a melodic love-letter to the 80s. The song is on the upcoming album Get Rollin.' At first, I thought "Those Days" was cheesy and then I gave it a little more time and I quickly fell in love. I couldn't help but get a goofy grin on my face and I loved catching all the 80s references in the video. I think you will find it fun, too. Punch play and give it a listen.

Farewell Loretta Lynn

All longtime readers of this site know I am no fan of country music, except in some limited situations, including Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn. Today, Lynn died at age 90 at her home in Tennessee. Her family released a statement to the Associated Press:

“Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home in her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills." They asked for privacy as they grieve and said a memorial will be announced later.

Sometimes it isn't all about Glam or rock. It's about an appreciation for music overall, including genius and pioneers like Lynn.
