ZZ Top: Live From Texas - Reissue Coming

From my inbox - some ZZ Top news:

New York, NY (September 16, 2020)--On September 25, Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to release ZZ Top: Live From Texas -- a reissue of the 2 LP set, originally released in 2010. Now, a decade later, this classic concert will be available as a special limited run of 1,000 copies, pressed on white vinyl.

ZZ Top: Live From Texas features audio from the certified double-platinum 2008 Live From Texas DVD / Blu-ray / CD release. Additionally, “Heard It On The X” is included as a vinyl-exclusive track, an extra bonus to the original CD release.

Live From Texas captures ZZ Top performing a stacked setlist of their celebrated songs, including tracks from their 10x platinum 1983 masterpiece Eliminator. “Tush,” “La Grange,” “Legs,” “Cheap Sunglasses,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’”, “Sharp Dressed Man”...these songs go beyond the title of “hits” -- they are classic anthems, woven into the fabric of both Rock and Roll and American culture. Recorded in Texas in 2007, this 2 LP sonically showcases Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard delivering their songs with the sound, spirit, and swagger, establishing them as international superstars.

Five decades following their inception, the “Little Ol’ Band From Texas” continues to inspire and thrill fans worldwide. One of the most instantly recognizable music outfits in history, their rhythm-driven, big brand of blues-rock and distinct image made them inimitable entertainers and cemented their legacy in the Rock and Roll zeitgeist. ZZ Top: Live From Texas proves that prowess in spades.

'All Amped Up' -- New Tom Keifer  Video

Tom Keifer is out with a new video for the single "All Amped Up" from the album Rise. The video is of past live shows. To me the song seems heavier than most Cinderella tracks and definitely has that classic Keifer sound. The rasp and growl are all there!

Rise is a great album and at this point, I feel like it might be the closest thing we ever get to new Cinderella music. Sad but true.

Aerosmith Warns Of Fake Streaming Scams

Anytime something nice happens, crooks always have to come along and ruin it. Case in point, our streaming concerts in the wake of Covid-19. There is nothing that can replace the excitement of a live show with a big crowd, but streaming concerts are better than nothing. Same bands are charging for the experience. Enter scammers setting up fake Facebook posts and links to steal money from fans.

Aerosmith warned today about scammers setting up fake live streams. There are no Aerosmith live stream concerts planned. Stay vigilant!

Gear Hysteria: For The Guitar Players

This is pretty cool and the gear heads should dig it. Def Leppard's Phil Collen recently did an hour-long chat about his guitar choices over the years. It is always fun to learn why a musician chooses a certain brand or style of guitar, bass, kit, whatever. Phil has a unique tone and this video gives a little insight into that as well.

Fan Rooms?

Seeing the cool KISS collection below made me wonder how many of you have rooms like this dedicated to your favorite band? I have a tub of Aerosmith items that I gathered when I was younger but I do not collect anything anymore. I am too cheap and then I just worry about having a place to store things. I am a minimalist who does not like clutter.

I always admire rooms and collections like the one below but I think having a room like that in my own home would make me nervous. So much to dust but what a conversation piece! So tell me - who has a collection that can rival the one below?

Graspop Metal Meeting Announces 2021 Acts

The 2020 edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting was supposed to be the festival's big 25th anniversary celebration. The fest was canceled because of Covid-19. Now the organizers are announcing some acts that will play next summer. Aerosmith will still headline as was originally planned, but now Volbeat will replace Iron Maiden (or at least it seems that way so far).

Other bands scheduled to appear include Faith No More, Deep Purple, Alestorm, Black Veil Brides, Judas Priest, Rival Sons, Saxon, Steel Panther and heaps more. The festival takes place in Dessel, Belgium from 17- 20 June 2021. Tickets on sale soon.

Quiet Riot Will Continue...

The remaining members of Quiet Riot just announced the band will continue. This after drummer Frankie Banali recently died of pancreatic cancer. This decision, while not surprising, means the band will continue without a single legacy member. Does this matter in 2020 or should Quiet Riot now be regarded as nothing more than a cover band?

The decision to start the announcement post with "life goes on" seems a bit crass to me. Yes, of course life goes on and the remaining members have every right to earn money. It also seems this was Frankie's wish, so great. I just probably would have packaged this a bit differently. I can see how this might leave a bad taste in the collective mouths of many fans. What do you think?
