Cash Grab or Must Have?

The celebrate the 40th anniversary of Shout At The Devil, Motley Crue will release a "Limited Edition Super Deluxe Box Set" of the classic album on October 27. I won't lie, the tarot cards and Ouija board look like fire. The price clocks in at a whopping $235, so it's a pass for me. Still looks awesome.

Def Leppard and Motley Crue On '60 Minutes Australia' Tomorrow

This is kind of a big deal: Def Leppard and Motley Crue will be on 60 Minutes (Australia) tomorrow night. 60 Minutes features are long-form journalism, so the piece should give some nice interviews and background info on the joint tour of both bands. The Australian news program started back in 1979 and has been a down-under news staple since then.

I'm sure the video will be available for worldwide distribution after the initial broadcast. Keep your eyes peeled.

So Just Who Would Tour With Motley Crue Next?

Apparently, Motley Crue will stay on the road and do another stadium tour next summer. The announcement came from a recent Vince Neil interview. The Motley singer concedes he doesn't know who else will be joining them on the road yet, so I thought it would be fun to kind of ponder. Take out Def Leppard (and presumably Poison, Joan Jett, Europe and Alice Cooper) since they've all done stints with Motley already on this package.

Do we think Bon Jovi is a possibility? Ozzy can't tour anymore. David Coverdale and Whitesnake are just about done. KISS is done (well, almost). Queen + Adam Lambert won't do a long tour and they would never do a trade-off headline thing. Ditto for AC/DC. Aerosmith will be on their own farewell tour. Guns n' Roses has been out on the road a lot already. A Skid Row reunion with Sebastian Bach would make tons of sense, but those guys don't want to reunite. Maybe Mammoth WVH? Greta Van Fleet? Sammy Hagar and/or Chickenfoot?

What sorts of bands can you think of that make sense for another Motley Crue summer tour?

Motley Crue Perform As 'Dogs Of War' In London

Motley Crue performed a small club show at the Underworld in London Friday night. The "secret" show was for 450 folks and Motley billed themselves as Dogs of War.

During the show, Motley Crue played a cover of the Beastie Boys "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)." The cover surprisingly worked and I bet those 450 people had a great time and made some great memories.

Here's "Kickstart My Heart" from that same, small show (no idea how long these videos will stay up online, so watch fast):

Michael Monroe: Class Act

Today's post is from our friend HIM.

Beyond being one of the best unheralded vocalists—at least in the wider world of what counts as ‘popular’ culture—of his era. Beyond still cranking out good music for his fans at sixty young—though paradoxically hard-lived—years of age. Beyond all that, Monroe always struck me as a down-to-earth fellow, one who knows his place in the pecking order and still strives to deliver the goods.

Then he did this.

There is enough rancor and petty hatred in the world. There are more than enough old grudges that won’t die even if they should and some that, depending on your perspective, deserve to linger on.

Monroe’s simple, and moving, post suggests that we can make peace with almost anything if we are willing to want peace in our life.

Folks, life is short. Tragically so, in some cases. What sort of life do you want to lead, especially when your life is full of both happiness and sorrow?

Hanoi Rocks rocked. So, too, does Monroe. Lucky that we have him around, still making music and still leading by example.

Motley Crue After - NFL Draft Concert Videos

Motley Crue played a concert yesterday to close out the second night of the NFL Draft. The free show was streamed live online for folks not at the Draft to enjoy. The gig was supposed to start at 11 p.m. - I waited until 11:40 p.m. and then gave up.

I checked out a few of the clips online this morning. It's hard to tell what the band really sounded like because of crowd noise and folks singing along.

Here's "Wild Side"

Here's "Home Sweet Home"

Here's "Live Wire"

Fall Out Boy will headline Thursday night. Motley Crue will headline Friday and Thundercat will perform Saturday. You can stream the full concerts free via links in the post below. A little bit will be shown on TV, but not much if history is any indication.

The concerts start at the conclusion of the draft each night - so they start late.
