Jani Lane Really Out of Warrant

Twenty-four hours ago, we started hearing rumors of Jani Lane getting dumped by the rest of Warrant. Well, now it's official: he's out.

The rest of Warrant has replaced Jani with Robert Mason of Big Cock.

Jani is an addict and he needs help. That's all I have to say about that issue. I'm not - nor have I ever been - an addict, so it is not my place to judge or criticize. I thank Jani for writing some of the best songs of the Glam genre. I think he truly needs a break.

Warrant performed at Rock the Bayou just days ago. You can read my review of the performance in the archive. Yes, the show was terrible. Here is the proof that presumably sent the rest of Warrant over the edge:

good riddance Jani, this guy has blown every opportunity and I'm sure the band doesn't want to keep burning promoters! he can't sing like he used to anyway and needs to get help! Mason has always been a killer singer and a total professional so it should sound killer! plus it won't interfere with Big Cock cause they don't tour. what's funny is Mason was their first choice to replace Lane in '93. I know some fans will say Jani's the main songwriter but he's not even capable of writing another quality album like Cherry Pie or Dog Eat Dog!

Its unfortunate to say the least. Jani is a great songwriter and frontman but he just cant seen to get his act together. I actually an fearful for his life at this point. Especially now that hes lost his ig again. PLEASE JANI, get help!! We all love you!!!!

He is ruining his own legend. what a waste of a great songwriter and front man. Get some help brother, sobriety is such a better high.

Never really got what all the fuss was over Jani. He's an ok singer and an ok songwriter. While there are some front men who overshadow the rest of the band, Jani simply wasn't one of them.

Jani is an addict and needs help. In this last spectacle, I beleive that the Warrant "team"- band, managers, promoters, etc... need to take responsibility in putting Jani out there when he simply was not ready to be there. Instead of humiliating him, someone should have pulled him aside from the get go and say, "Look Jani, this is the way it is. Don't kid yourself, us or the public..."

Perhaps, he would have taken his addiction more seriously instead of believing his own hype.

Regardless of who is to blame and what went down, the bottom line for me is...I wanted to see the reunited lineup in concert, and I'm really really really disappointed.

Hallelujah.
I'm sorry he has had so many problems over the past decade or two, but I'm glad he is getting out so he can work on his issues in private and not in front of an audience. It wasn't fair to anyone for him to keep going the way he was going.

I got to see the original lineup in Nashville in May but now Jani needs help. Bring on the Mason era!!

It probably was a necessary firing fellas, but the FACT of the matter is that no matter who owns the name, Jani IS Warrant... Its not like Motley without Vince or even Skid Row without Sebastian. Jani wrote the songs that made Warrant famous. Thats the bottom line. Nikki is the chief songwriter for Crue and Snake and Rachel are the writers for Skid Row and so on... Warrant owes Jani EVERY SINGLE opportunity to front the band, because without him, they would be nothing. Heres to hoping Jani can get back on the wagon and back fronting the down boys, where he belongs, in a short time.

I knew he was in trouble when I saw them perform in Toronto. He was a mess.

I was at the show in Nashville and thought the whole band did a really good job. I hate that Jani couldn't get his act together. Jani is a very talented guy and I hope he can get straightened out soon.

This is disappointing to me to see. I had been looking forward to seeing the band together again. I hope Jani gets the help he needs this time. I saw him in concert last year, and he was fantastic, so I'm not really sure what happened. Maybe he just wasn't ready to be back in Warrant yet.

I agree with Kenny...BUT, he has been afforded a TON of oppotunity. I would have to see the other footage from Rock on the Bayou to think Lane was fucked up and not just under the weather. When he hit the opening of "I Saw Red" his voice cracked, big deal. His pipes were in Bret Michaels mode. He seemed to be "sober" Jani there without a voice. There was no stumbling, ranting, weird behavior...well, I only made it 1:13 into it, so perhaps I am speaking out of turn.
The guy is admittedly an alcoholic for sure and a sex addict perhaps (judging from a former x playboy centerfold's blog hahahaha). Face it, this is a guy who has been coddled from the get go. He's a spoiled brat when it comes to getting his way and partying. The "I'm sorry I fucked up" shit shouldn't work anymore. If he's addicted to anything it's forgiveness. Everyone has given Jani all the help they can, he doesn't appreciate it,nor does it look like he WANTS it. THAT is the important thing to getting better. Its very easy to clean up when things are going great (reform'd Warrant), but when things go bad (Cinderella/Warrant tour cancelled) THAT is when a man shows he's a man and a boy shows he's Jani Lane.
You can't take away that Jani is a great song writer (in his time)...side note, Alice Cooper just recorded Jani's "Serial Killer" under another name and changed some of the lyrics and if you're a COOPER fan you'll know which song....so the potential of being a viable songwriter is still there.
I once helped interview Jani and asked him what he missed the most from back in the day to then (2006) his response summed up his actions..."how we were treated and what we got back then" It wasn't the craziness of the shows, the selling of millions of records, the fans...it was HOW HE WAS TREATED. The man is a very cool guy, he is very sweet and caring, but sadly he is also very self centered. I hope Jani rids his demons, but THAT is a whole other reality series...

I miss Jani. He is super nice, just think he got too much too early in life and didn't know what to do with it all. We really are the ones with issues if we promote these guys to great levels and then turn our backs on them when they have problems that we (the fans) most likly cause. I can not imagine living up to an image that is never good enough! I don't know where Jani is, but I hope he finds peace and happiness. I miss talking with him. Super nice guy and never had an ego, just tried to be something he couldn't live up to. Sorry for you Jani. Get help and be well. Life is short.

It's really so sad to learn what has just happened to Jani. I'm a true and hardcore fan of Warrant with Jani, and my IPOD only has songs of the band. I even named my baby Lane after him. I just hope he cleans up his act and ways, and be contented and count his blessings and start all over again, and realize that really life is short to waste.

We love you Jani, and hope you'll be back sooner than expected!

I was very saddened, and I agree that there is NO Warrant without Jani. I named my third child Lainey, lol after Jani Lane.

OH no ! dont tell me that a band member has an addiction! Fuck no! impossible! WOW!

OK, here we go. First of all yes Jani is an addict. Secondly, yes he has had other opportunities in and out of the band. The bottom line here is that for some reason Warrant just can't seem to get where they want to be. I mean think about it for a second. If you were them wouldn't you want to be where Motley Crue is right now? They don't want to play these stupid hair metal festivals, they want their popularity to mature and prosper. they need to reach the point of appreciation from the fans rather than play old #$%^ and expect everything to turn out fine.
Classic songs are fine but in a situation like this Warrant needs to get their thinking caps on and reconsider their lineup. Honestly, you can't say that every show they have had since their "reunion" has had a total of about five fans in the audience that were responsive. WARRANT SUCKS!!!! and this is coming from a guy who really admires the band. The best line up Warrant ever had was with Rick Steier, Bobby Borg and Danny Wagner. Basically their 90's line up which was their best ever. Warrant's best album was their Live album which consisted of all their great classics but as well as their current material at the time.
In other words all I'm trying to say is that this is a band that has not fully matured yet mainly because of musical differences. If Eric or Jerry feel that the "original" lineup is what works than hey, to each his own. But trust me with a band as talented as Warrant, before you know it someone will have already gone into the music store and asked for Warrant: Belly to Belly Vol.II.

I’m sorry but I have to set the record straight!! I have known this band from day one. We all played the strip back in the day and then on the road and we were no different that any other bands out there!

We are not all perfect! Time after time we have seen people just like Jani fall to the pressure of the music scene. Go ask Chris Holms of Wasp or Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.

So to pass judgment is hypocritical!! Yes even I had my bought with addiction.

But for all of you to point fingers and say that someone like Jani SUCKS!! He's a baby!! He deserves it!!

Then why aren’t you on stage doing it better????

What famous bands have you fronted?

Doing show after show takes it’s toll on a man.Hotel after hotel on and off the bus night after night??

I know how it feels because it happened to me. And by the way Warrant has tried too and has replaced Jani more than Once. I was one of those that Eric Turner looked at to fill Jani’s shoes, But Eric told me that I sounded to much like Jani so I was out of luck…

So for all you finger pointers?? Look in the mirror before you point the finger at some one like Jani or any one for that matter!!!!! Do you still party?
