Help Big Cock Make A New Record
Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 12:01AM My friends in Big Cock are making a new record and they need your help. The new trend is using Kickstarter - a fundraising tool - to make records. The new record will be called Four Play (get it, ha).
Here's a little info on the record from Big Cock and Kickstarter:
We want to make "Four-Play" bigger and bolder than any of our previous albums and we'd love to have you all involved:
The sound is going to be bigger, the production more extravagant. We want to make a Big Cock album you can take home and show the folks.
So what can you do? Visit the Big Cock Kickstarter page and make a pledge. Pledges start at just a buck and then go up in phases. In each phase, backers get a special reward.

Rock'n'Roll always seems to have an aura of danger and risk among other qualities and this thing is about taking all the challenge out of it which just seems joyless.
And that's a pretty sad state to be in for band known for it's great hooks, songwriting, humor and bravado. This is the kind of stunt meant for a corporation not a kick-a*s R'n'R Band!
Hell Ally, maybe YOU ought to use Kickstarter to get a state of the art website that could shut me and Metalboy! up. LMAO!

"If there's a will there's a way" is how Mason & Company should look at their situation. As I've said before here when whatever the h*ll that band was, was askin' for bread to shoot their video...
You can shoot an MTV Music Awards worthy video for 5 bux if you've got a killer idea. The bigger the concept, the less important the production values become. Big C*ck is a killariously awesome band that has great ideas. Come up with the killer idea and just do it. Plus with all of the technology The Insider talks about, you really can do a lot to make something done on the cheap look like a million bux, literally.

Dave Henzerling from Big Cock here. Thanks for the candor in all your comments. We appreciate your honesty and would like to address a few of the concerns stated above:
1. There used to be an investor-based approach to making an album - it was called a record deal. They don't exist anymore, especially ror rock artists these days. Besides, who would sign a band called Big Cock?
2. That being said, we did self-finance our first three albums, totaling in the tens-of-thousands of dollars out of our own pockets. This money came from the fruits of our musical labors (think of the situation where you use the money from your job so you can pay for continuing to have your job, i.e., not sustainable).
3. Because we did that advance work by ourselves, we were able to put out some (great) music that otherwise would not have been made. Many bands don't have those resources, so we feel fortunate. And our fans were unanimously supportive of this Kickstarter concept in an advance email asking for their opinions prior to starting the campaign.
4. Finally, music and entertainment does cost money if you want to make a quality project. Whether it be $5.00 or $50,000 it has to come from somewhere. New companies solicit startup venture capitalists all the time to raise money and most of the time the ideas are just non-verifiable hypotheses of what the public might want. We wouldn't have done this if we were a new band.
This is one way to keep bringing you new music without going broke and I'm all for it. I love this band and have proudly been a musician with all it's ups and downs for almost 30 years. But rock 'n roll has never been a sure thing, today more than ever. People vote with their wallets, so I'm interested to see how this all plays out. I'm betting on Big Cock...

I think some of the "Posters" have missed the fact that we, Big Cock, are offering up a special piece of the rock for the fans that want to help "Kick Start" this next effort. There is value to what you're buying into with this program; an opportunity to get schwag, advance music, or up-close and personal with the band in the new video.
Not only am I a drummer, I'm a BIG Fan of good music, and when I heard about this program I looked back and wished I had this kind of opportunity to meet and have something special that put me closer into the music of some of my favorite bands..
As Dave has said above, every one of our releases thus far has been self funded by the band... There's no record company... It's US. We create this music because we WANT to, not because some record company executive is telling us what to do...It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the name of the band is an erect middle finger to the music industry status quo PC vanilla processed main-stream crap that keeps flowing onto TV and Radio. This is the real deal, and the real deal actually takes some real money to make it happen in the real world....and that money to produce the first, second and third Album didn't just fall out of the sky...
Anyone know where I can get some free gas or groceries, let alone studio time? Sad thing is, everyone knows how to get FREE Music... but it's not free, the independent artists are paying for it... most of us do it purely for the love of their craft, and the joy of connecting with fans that appreciate what we've created.
Unless you want to listen to "legacy artists" or the next big thing that was "Discovered" on American Idol, music lovers better realize that processed corporate music is all you're going to have unless you support independent music.... and we as artists/musicians and entrepreneurs appreciate the opportunity to share our craft that we've spent a lifetime labor of love to create, and it's a bonus if we ever net a dime from this venture.
We love the music and love each and every fan that is into our music.... It doesn't get any better than that.
Thank you for all the support over the years, and for the continuing support.... This advance purchase of the next BC release - with the help of the KickStart program - is proof that after our DECADE of work building this band that there is still an audience for the music that we love making!
