This PSA Is Awesome
Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 12:01AM KISS, Steven Tyler, Matt Sorum and a whole slew of other folks just lent their celebrity to preserving the arts in schools. The charity Adopt the Arts was founded by Sorum and fights school districts cutting arts programs as a cost saving measure.
I went to public school and sang in choir (sang very poorly, that is) and also played clarinet in band for eight years. Music helps kids learn and slashing arts programs to save a few bucks is not only insane, but also dangerous.

Let Congress cut stuff we really don't need or want and put the money where it's needed most -- The Arts and Art Education. If it wasn't for Art Classes I took during my entire education from age 4 to 21, I would not have wound up working on Madison Avenue for 20 years.
I graduated from high school with a G.E.D. but never graduated from college. Had it not been for my arts education, much of it received in public schools from an early age, I never would have made it and would probably be sleeping on a park bench in Santa Monica or dead.
If you want to go back to Squaresville and even worse corruption than we have now, vote for Romney.
Vote the Squares (or less square) out if you want to enjoy what little freedom you have left.
Granted, Obama's Presidency has been limited and he's made some mistakes but if you think for one second Romney has more of your best interest in mind you're kidding yourself.
Hey, if you like what Walker and Kasich are doing and saying with their puppet legislatures, keep 'em in and vote for Romney. But if you want things to continue to get better, vote the worse of two evils out across the board.
I agree, what is called Obamacare is severely flawed. To make him own it is laughable as it was written by lobbyists for the insurance industry and Big Pharma working both sides of the aisle. The thing got so watered down and compromised in order to get it through, it won't be nearly as effective as it should be. Just be glad there's more of a safety net in place for our children than previously.

When Obama is re-elected and the House re-taken, things will get better. And you can enjoy what freedoms you have left. The Supreme Court will have the interests of the people in mind once again when the Right Wing Corporate Puppets are no longer the majority. After things normalize, you'll be happy again and get over your selfishness.
Sure, you won't give our President any credit but at least I'll rest easier knowing I did my part voting for him to look out for your best interests even though you're incapable of knowing exactly what those are.
Just in: Gas down 15 cents. Corporate profits at an all time high. Unemployment has grown 20 straight months. Granted, that needs to be better. Jobs need to stop being shipped overseas. That's a Bi-partisan problem due to corporate lobbyist influence over a crooked Congress where both sides are guilty, one more than the other. If you're gonna have that, you have to look out for all the unemployed in this country. Actually, where Obama erred was not setting up a job bank to rebuild our dilapidated infrastructure.

p.s. I lived and worked during the Guliani era. Though he cleaned up the streets and brought down crime, he also wouldn't let new Nightclubs get liquor licenses or worse, allow them cabaret licenses so patrons could dance! Now, I ask you, is that Rock'n'Roll? Is that the kind of jerks you want running the country? Because that's what you're asking for! In the words of the immortal Beastie Boys, "You gotta fight for your right to party!"
WE deperatley need a cleansing of both congress and the senate. We the people are systematicaly stripped of our rights.
I agree both choices are scary. Romney just screams corporate greed. Obama's foreign policy is scary. I don't know which is worse.
I served this country for 22 years and turned a blind eye to what was going on outside the military utterly believing that it was for a greater purpose only to wake up and find that we were just used and alot of us just used up for no real reason other than greed.
We need representatives that actually represent their constituants and do not go to Washington just to get rich!
Obama cares a little more about people is the only real difference. Sorry, I'd rather help The Poor and Middle Class out, not JUST hand it over to The Rich -- The Real Elite -- in the form of Tax cuts they don't need, both on a personal and corporate level.
They Robbed the Coffers twice! 1st, with the trumped up Iraq War and 2nd, at the end of W's term with the phony long engineered "Crash" on The Street. I'm not going to make it so easy on 'em this time, though, believe me, Obama will give up plenty when he still manages to barely get in.

I lived on the Upper East Side on 88th, right around the corner fom Elaine's, but I spent many a night seein' shows at The Cat Club, L'Amours, The Ritz, The Garden, Roseland, Beacon Theater, CBGB'S, Irving Plaza and The Palladium. My sincerest thanks for protecting me from 1988 to 2001 when I split for The Hamptons on August 28th.
Note to Shawn: Thank You for serving my country and protecting me. I'm glad you made it out alive. Though I believe in certain recent wars, your Brothers and Sisters In Arms died in vain for The Greed of The Carlisle Group (aka Haliburton and KBR) where all the Neocon's $$$ (Read Bush Dynasty, which is really just a front for The True Elite, i.e. people The Koch Brothers work for) are invested. Hopefully, the blood of those lost and injured will ultimately be justified decades from now when maybe, just maybe freedom will ring in those countries you were forced to serve in.
