Do You Like Adrenaline Mob?

I've been trying to get into Adrenaline Mob.

Adrenaline Mob is a new supergroup that features Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater/Avenged Sevenfold), Russell Allen (Symphony X), John Moyer (Disturbed) and guitarist Mike Orlando. I'm a fan of Portnoy, so it would make sense that I would dig this new project. While I'm not 100% sold on the songs just yet, I do like the single "Indifferent." The band's official debut album Omertà came out in March. I think a lot of the disconnect I'm having comes from connecting Portnoy to prog rock... and Adrenaline Mob is just straight up rock n' roll! I was a little surprised that Adrenaline Mob didn't get picked up for Rock on the Range. Perhaps next year.

My answer is: yes, a little. I like about 6-7 songs, despite their mostly awful lyrics. And i love Undone, as well as Angel Sky. Im not a fan of either Dream Theater or Symphony X, so i had no investment or expections of these guys prior to listening to these songs, which might have helped my liking some of their material. A lot of fans of the aforementioned bands have been hating on this group, if you go by the review on amazon.com or itunes.

Awesome band!! Their CD is great and the live clips that I have seen look and sound fantastic. I never was a Dream Theater or Portnoy fan ( indifferent) so I went into this blind. They ROCK!!

As far as current Mike Portnoy projects are concerned, I prefer Flying Colors. "Kayla" would have been a big deal a few decades ago.

Apropos of nothing really, but currently digging the new Tyketto too. Perhaps a notch below their first two albums, but nice to have the original lineup back together.

Agreed, Flying colors is a far better project. Their album just blows me away.

Could barely stand to get through the album, and I gave it a couple shots. I can see the appeal to people who like Disturbed, Godsmack, etc., but I don't, and this does nothing for me.

And to M., I agree, the new Tyketto is pretty great. Not quite up to the standards of the first two, but a great comeback. The debut is a true masterpiece of melodic hard rock (and the 2nd not far behind), so even coming close w/ this is an achievement.

I really did not like it. I thought I would but it sounded very average to me. Lots of stupid tough guy lyrics and very generic guitar playing. Haven't heard Flying Colors yet, I guess I'm still sad that the trio with Billy Sheehan and John Sykes didn;t work out.

You guys have spared me. I won't even bother pushing play on this. Portnoy and Dream Theater are Prog UNROCK and Sheehan is the king of overplayin' it, though I'll hand him Mr. Big's happy accident, "Addicted To That Rush, their only truly great song.

While on the subject of Melodic Hard Rock, which to me, is really just a little bit more Hairier AOR (which is how I view Mr. Big), the other band you mention, Tyketto, falls into that category.

Tyketto really is borderline UNROCK, guys, and I'm going off my original press Japanese CDs, "Don't Come Easy" and "Strength In Numbers", which I have studied up and down for 6 years. C'mon, it's AOR, boys.

And though I am somewhat of a sucker for the 80's strain of that particular sub genre of Hair Metal, which is really just a side effect of my penchant for 80's Hair Metal Powerballads (read AOR), I just cannot really like Tyketto, even though I have tried and tried.

Except for one BRILLIANT song!

The unbelievably, brain defying single, "Forever Young" from 1991's "Don't Come Easy".

And killer guitars!

p.s. As far as Sykes goes, don't even get me started. He is such a Monster Guitarist but it's all pretty much gone to waste save for his tenure in Whitesnake. Though he was killer in Whitesnake, Blue Murder was a pretty spotty affair but has some moments. However, Tyketto and Blue Murder do have a couple of great logos.

I have to say that I was really looking forward to this band but its too "modern rock" to me...just does not appeal whatsoever. As for Tyketto...absolutely brilliant debut and the new one is very good. The debut has LOTS of killer songs beyond "Forever Young" so if you don't have it, seek it out for sure. Blue Murder...c'mon...its beyond brilliant..the entire CD..get it and get it fast.
