Motley Crue on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

As part of their big final tour announcement, Motley Crue performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night. The performance was pretty long, which surprises me. I read some reviews online - seems like lots of folks were complaining about the performance. I think the band did fine. By the time the tour rolls around, they'll be tighter and back in their live groove. No worries here from me.

Since when is his weight a problem? He isn't fat at all, and even if he was, does it even matter? He does not sing every other "third" work. "Kneel down ye sinners, streetwise religion" he skipped one word, and since when is the word "to" very important in the damn song. It's still a kickass, edgy, pure, rock n roll song, the band plays it well, and Vince sings it just fine. People have been complaining about his voice since they came back to the scene with the Carnival Of Sins tour. I saw them on every single tour that came here since that except one. And every time I saw them he sounded better each time, and they killed it. He sounds kinda rough here I am not gonna lie, but they are just starting rehearsals, cos from the Vegas videos I saw, he sounded phenomenal, and as soon as the tour starts, he will be on top again. I'll be there, and I am gonna lose my mind when they play Primal Scream.
I also have to disagree with you. I have seen them live on several occasions (sheds, smaller indoor venues) and will check any of their filmed stuff when it passes by on Paladia or elsewhere. His voice is, to be charitable, inconsistent; to be a bit more harsh, it is the one thing that is not like the others when it comes to the songs. Contrary to what some might think, I don't hold older singers to the same standards that I would when they were 10, 20, or even 30 years younger. I don't. That isn't the same as noting when some singers lose range, or words, or both as they get older. Doesn't mean the show won't be great. But the word "phenomenal" probably shouldn't be applied to Neil's singing.
The weight thing? I have made jokes about that. And I will admit it is an easy joke to make. Probably too easy. He isn't Malmsteen, or even Axl, when it comes to girth. Though he has gone up and down in pounds over the years. I suppose it is that thing again: you see those pictures from SATD (he looked like Lita Ford's kid sister from another mother) and it is amazing what age (and lifestyle) does to a person . . . any person, myself included.
