This Will Make You Smile

Picture it: Warrant, live in Japan back in 1991. A big, screaming crowd, great moves on stage and Jani Lane in all his glory. I had a great time watching this full concert from Nakano Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo and I bet you'll love it too. Videos like the one below remind me why I'm a Glam fan.

Very underrated. Jani never got the respect I think he deserved. He was an amazing songwriter and wrote some timeless music. I love this. Wish I could've seen the original band.

I saw Warrant live in concert back in 1998(Along w/Slaughter & Quiet Riot!)
I know it's nothing compared to seeing them in the late 1980's or early 90's but...I was only 17 at the time & that was the best I could do!
I grew up in a horrible era of grunge & I tried my best to take advantage of my teen years!

Warrant was the highlight of that concert & Jani Lane sounded Amazing covering the Black Sabbath song "War Pigs"!

Man I miss Jani. Saw them while in college when they first came out. They opened for Eddie Money. After they played they were hanging out and I got to chat with them. Jani signed aa autograph for me " Luke, always go where the down boys go" Jani Lane. I'll never forget that. I wish I still had it. This was around 1988 or 89
I agree...this is why I will always love glam too!!!

We didn't really know what we had till he was gone, what a shame he never really got any respect for what he DID do! Saw and talked to Jani many times over the many years, what a treat for me to at least have those memories! Your missed brother!

A genius whose light was snuffed out way too soon and so tragically too.

Some of my ultimate musical memories will always be hanging with Jani and Jerry after their 2 Toronto shows in '96 and early '97. He even played us a tape (!) of some of the material he was working on for his upcoming solo CD. That was really special.

There are only a handful of people like Jani who exist in our lifetimes. He oozed talent and everything he touched was golden.

I will always remember the look of confusion on his face when he pulled out Canadian money to pay the bartender. I had to count it out for him because he had no clue about the denominations. Then I gave the bartender crap for taking his money. She was obviously too stupid to know who he was and he didn't bother playing the fame card.

RIP Jani. You were loved. Such a shame to have lost someone so special, so young.

And sorry to say but Warrant is nothing without Jani. They shouldn't even be allowed to play his songs.

I also really love his solo CD 'Back Down To One' & the Saints Of The Underground CD 'Love The Sin, Hate The Sinner'!

Hey Rita, I wasn't aware that famous people were not required to pay for things. Is this just in Canada?

Yes it is BatLizard.

This was a bartender in the VIP area of the club where Warrant just performed, along with Slaughter and Vince Neil. You'd think they'd pay for a drink for the guy.

Has anybody read Bobby Brown's book?
She talks a lot about Jani Lane.
It's really the closest thing you can get to a book about Jani Lane.
I sadly doubt anybody else will bother making a book about him.

Great find!Audio quality is great considering the age of it. Jani was in fine form and the band was tight!

Jani was a great guy & one of those rare guys who was a true "artist" in every sense of the word. Ever since the pre-Warrant days of Playne Jane, Jani was always writing, always trying to perfect his art.

I was happy to see one of his best non-album tunes is on this, at around the 11 minute mark. "Thin Disguise" is such a great, simplistic song, whose lyrics say so much. R.I.P. my friend.

The one and only Jani Lane! Man how I miss the dude. The ultimate singer/songwriter/performer of the glam era!! A class dude like no other that never got deserved respect from the music industry. I still remember the day I read the news about his death, I was stunned with sadness as if a family member pass away. His music was such a special soundtrack to my life and he will forever be the man!! RIP to the one and only Jani fucking Lane!!!

Ok. I've been in the hospital after having a stoke. Remember my blood clotting disorder people? Clot traveled to my brain. Anyway, lying in bed, I saw this post and wondered what, why and when, and how, will him or the boy post. Still nothing! Wtf?

Anyway, nice post, al. Nice comments all. Be well.
