First Videos Of KISS Las Vegas Residency

KISS are doing a residency at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. First videos of that residency are now popping up online. The residency runs until November 23 - so there's plenty of time to travel to Vegas if you want to catch this show.

Recently I honestly hate admitting that I am a KISS fan. If rock is dead in Genes eyes why should I consider them a rock band anymore? The music lives on (even though it is pretty simple and relatively easy to learn) but they have become a joke within themselves. A shadow of what they once were "the hottest band in the land" sure they can still pack arenas, but they have to whore their name out to do it for the past 30 years. (See:hello kitty and Dr Pepper) I guess I'll always be a KISS fan for their music and nothing else. Gene has made me lose a lot of respect for them.

Aside from the missing "Spider" lighting rig, KISS in Vegas is a hell of a show. They've amped up the pyro, added lasers, and aside from the actual concerts, there are other things like multiple book signings, etc. Unfortunately, the one thing missing is any deviation from the "same old, same old" set list. You'd think that since this residency is purely for the hardcore KISS fan, they'd have changed it up a bit. Still, there's not another band out there that can match the KISS spectacle.

If I were in Vegas,I'd be at this in a heartbeat. Regardless of how much 8th grade girls bathroom drama these guys are constantly involved in, they're still the reason this guy picked up a guitar 40 years ago at the ripe old age of 11. Lol.

One of my favorite bands in the late 70's..when they were still respected.Best show ever but they need the trickery to hide the fact that they don't have it anymore. Absolute JOKE now and Mr. Stanley's voice is shot for good.

Anyone hear The Oath they played on the KISS Kruise? That was one they rarely play. Sounded really good from the clips I've seen.

I for one am glad that I didn't spend the $ to fly cross country for this show. The set list except for maybe two songs is the same as the last tour. Also, it is the same number of songs and gimmicks that accompany them. I expected they would amp up the pyro and yes the lasers were cool, but that doesn't make this residency a special event. There needs to be more. That more is different songs played live.

Not only do I regret missing the KISS Kruise because of them trotting out rarities like "The Oath" but also for the rarity of them playing while in their "Dressed To Kill" garb.

Maybe Ace Steele could tell us, but isn't that a first? This is what the original line-up should have done at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Look, Stanley's voice may be shot, but it's really only half-shot and, yeah, Ace & Peter aren't in it anymore but I'm going with Ace Steele on this... Those guys are still great and the make-up helps.

I even like what Stanley says about how the band could continue on without Gene and himself a la The Blue Man Group, which has several versions out playing the world simultaneously. Why not the same for KISS? That is the genius of their trademark(ed) make-up jobs!a

I bet they keep it going long after Paul and Gene split. A Broadway show anyone? They should simply call it KISS!

At this point, Metalboy!, you are spot on (even if we are perhaps tonally a bit apart): they are interchangeable cogs in a well-oiled machine. The Mask is the Message.

Thing is, I will give Stanley his due: if not for him, even this version wouldn't be around. And, while I have serious doubts that either Simmons or Stanley will actually go through with the "it isn't about us" theatrics (differs from the live spectacle, though helps to promote it) and actually replace themselves, any version of this band will die when either/or both Stanley and Simmons give up the grease-paint spackled Ghost(s)!

You got me thinking though: what about an off-off-off Broadway version of CATS starring Peter Criss? A mash-up of "Memory" and "Beth" could be so cheese-filled it would demand its own video!
