'Ride Like the Wind' versus 'Ride the Wind'

Last night, Christopher Cross' "Ride Like the Wind" popped randomly into my head. The track is amazing and features Michael McDonald, too. So picture it: I'm going about my business, humming the tune and then my mind wandered to Poison's "Ride the Wind." So then I decided to mentally compare the two. Most folks know that "Ride the Wind" is my favorite Poison song. But I've always loved "Ride Like the Wind" and I think the lyrics are better in general. I've seen both acts live -- I'll give the edge to Poison in that department, but really there's no arguing with Cross' voice -- he was darn impressive to watch. Which do you prefer?

Now, for the reality, more times than not, you're YouTube links are dead. For this post, I get white space followed by a view on YouTube link, white space, another link. I click on the link and get "This video does not exist". This is more PSA than complaint, because I can usually find the video referenced.
I prefer to be..."Riding on the wiiiiiind!"
"Priest priest priest priest!"
Alyson, don't forget JP here on BBG. Turbo was their attempt to blend in with glam back in 1986. Their catalogue of tunes with melody and fun choruses puts them in the BBG world for me.:)
Peace
It seems if you're using an Apple product, you can see the clips easier. Still, I reloaded the videos using a windows desktop and you should be able to see them now. - Allyson
where eagles and angels dare to fly...'nuff said.
I wish more of my contemporaries and many of the up and comers would dare...

Glad to hear there is more Priest material on the way.
That's a glam metal classic!
smknotsmf and GNR got it right...
This should have been a comparison of Cross' original Ride Like The Wind" VS. Saxon's fully Metalized version which also aces "Ride The Wind" by Poison AND Priest's "Riding On The Wind".
And, BK, I'm with Rita... "Turbo" is a GREAT Record, right up there with their best.
p.s. As far as whether Priest could be considered GLAM, they have definitely had GLAM leanings at times, "Turbo", in particular. And when you think about it, they are more GLAM than any GLAM Metal band for one obvious reason which I don't think I have to spell out to anyone here. ; )
It doesn't need to be over the top to be good. It, simply, needs to be good. I found the simple life...ain't so simple...
