Caleb Johnson Wins 'American Idol'

I used to be a big fan of American Idol but I just didn't watch it much this year. I don't care for the judges and in general, I think the show just isn't very good these days. Still, I popped in to the season enough to know contestant Caleb Johnson. Caleb was the show's resident rocker and you might recall I posted a clip of him covering Whitesnake a few weeks ago. Well, Caleb won the entire contest last night. During the show he performed with KISS. It wasn't the most amazing performance, but I'm sure Caleb had fun. Hopefully Caleb will be able to release a real rock record.

No question, that kid's got chops. If Simmons was smart he'd hire the kid, tell him to lose weight and replace Stanley in KISS, since his voice is shot.

KISS is barely KISS without Peter and Ace. Yeah, yeah I know. They were only there for a short time but I would call their presence and contribution crucial, however short-lived. Still sad the original 4 didn't perform at the RRHOF induction last month. That whole debacle was so petty.

Without Paul or Gene, KISS would, and should, die. The thought of KISS going on without either Paul or Gene (like Paul has commented numerous times)is ridiculous. Who is Paul kidding?

Paul's not the only singer whose lost his chops, with so many others in the same boat. He still looks amazing though.

And Metalboy! How was the Steel Panther show?

I can't stand American Idol or any of those types of shows. I admire that the guy is tryin to be rock. But its just ridiculous. Metal isn't in rotation like it used to be and when it is people mock and joke about it. You ask a normal person what it is and they'll mention AC/DC and sing the chorus to Cherry Pie then laugh. As far as the KISS thing goes, that is just done. They can slap their name on any money product they want, I stopped supporting them a while ago.

I thought it was pretty decent. Just watched the clip; not the show. Ain't nobody got time for that. I'll buy his music when it comes out; hope he has success, he seems to have talent.

That's not KISS.

Not because Ace and Peter are gone - it was still KISS with Vinnie Vincent, Eric Carr, Bruce Kulick, (and even Eric Singer in the early 90's).

These guys have completely lost the plot. Sluggish, tired performances going on 15 years after the 'Farewell Tour'.

It sucks having to add a disclaimer every time you tell people that you are a KISS fan, I really wish they would stop already.

Oh and the American Idol thing.. people still watch that show?

So it only took them 13 years or so to finally get a rocker to win it. I'm glad for this kid,cause he's the real deal pipes wise. But I'm sure they'll water him down,try to turn him pop,and ruin a good thing.....
