There are some really good bands this yr. the Retrospect stage is where the action will be. Not going, but will close my eyes and dream of 2009. What a weekend it was.

Yeah, B. I remember that line-up and thinkin', "Wow, I should really go. Oh, well, it'll probably be as good of a line-up next year, so I'll see if I can go then."

Bwomp, bwomp.

There hasn't been many reasons (bands) to justify going since, except those playing the Retrospect Stage -- you are so right! Maybe that should be enough of a reason to make the trek.

I attended in 2007 and 2008. We will never see lineups like those again. I will have to say this year is pretty enticing, but still not near enough to plop down $2000 for tickets, airfare, etc. for two. I would rather spend that on MORC.

We have to get the retrospect artists more visibility in the media. After all as you said B Lucas these bands make it worth while! There eventually needs to be a transfer of these bands to be the main acts of the festival!

3 of the 5 bands that played my "M-Pre Party" will be here.

This is the way you kick off a party.

I'll be down there for the 6th straight year to help out with this pre party as well as The Retrospect Stage..

Stop in and say "hello" if you are at the show.

Some cool bands there definitely. Just hate how most of it is generic and boring sounding. Rock On The Range is the best thing we've got here. Download is the other one and that's in England.

Rock-it is totally right. Unfortunately, I'm flying in on Friday. I am actually taking "kid" with me that I used to mentor when I first graduated college. I call him a kid, but he's like 35-26 years old now. He looked me up on facebook and sent me a thank you letter that literally made me cry. We've been getting together about once a month since for beer and pool. My wife suggested that I ask him to go to Rocklahoma and he agreed to go, although it's not really his type of music since he grew up on snoop dog and other thuggers while he grew up 'in da hood', but he turned out really well; remarkably well in fact.

Anyway, thee bands to check out on Thursday (no dis to the other bands on the lineup, but these are the ones I know about):

Mach 22 (jeff Labar's son's band, btw)
Chaotic Resemblance (Stryper inspired)
Station
Nasty Habit
Ratchet Dolls
Dellacoma (kinda has an LA Guns vibe)
Bai Bang (sleaze rock)
Mystery
Down n Dirty (Should be on main stage!) Bought their catalog off ITunes and can't stop listening...old school 80's rock ala Motley meets Kix)

oh, and some thoughts...yes or no??? while in rocklahoma, I plan on checking off a bucketlister and giving the "kid" (mentioned above) a special gift.

first the bucklister: doing shrooms and capping it off with heroin (snorting, not injecting)...duh!

the gift for the kid: cute, skinny asian hooker who specializes in giving good head.

Yes, I'm kidding. I just like to rile some of you (you know who) up sometimes.

c'mon naysayers...

he's been workin' hard, he's been oh so nice (wink). he worth a deuce!

let me at least pay for one! be good, be nice!

get up and get your parents outa here (KC, this is the line I sing to you)

grow up fuckers!

Whoa, Rock-It! Yeah, it WOULD be worth it to go see all those great bands at the Retrospect Pre-Party and then hang mostly at the Retrospect Stage for 90+% of the festival, the other 10% devoted to the handful of acts on the other stages that are worthwhile such as:

Black Stone Cherry
Killswitch Engage
Five Finger Death Punch
The Pretty Reckless
Texas Hippie Coalition
KIX
Butcher Babies
Scorpion Child

Now that I look at it, if that's 10%, one would need to hit the lotto and bring a custom Winnebego and sleep in it on-site to even see half the bands you'd want to.

This could be better than I originally thought, primarily because of Retrospect. Too bad they have a dubious reputation for their spotty treatment of their talent and bootlegging.

And definitely check out wicked! New York Dolls meets Poison meets very early Mötley; as in Mötley even before getting signed.

MB: you forgot to include Jackyl of your worthwhile acts to see on other stages. A while back, you announced a huge revelation in which you said the upon further reflection, their material rocks.
