Lynch Mob just released a video for "Testify" from the upcoming album Rebel due out next week via Frontiers. Lynch Mob is currently on tour and the band will play the Monsters of Rock Cruise in February.

For me, this is simply ok. Its not Lynch's strongest material by any means. Its not the glory days of Dokken nor the glory days of the first two Lynch Mob records.

The Lynch Mob is and always has been an underrated band, imo. Definitely more consistent than Dokken these days. The Sound Mountain Sessions rocked!

We found another point of contact, bkallday. I agree: The SMS were excellent and I said as much when they were released. If anything, they were a revelation to me because the band sounded so strong.

Their earlier stuff (_Wicked Sensation_ comes to mind) never drew me in. If anything, they sounded like a muted version of Badlands. I always felt like people liked them because they wanted them to be good (if that makes any sense). If only they can keep that sort of SMS focus, and/or if Lynch will not allow all his other projects to sap the strength out of his most recognizable post-Dokken gig.

Because JAT is also right (though I sense we would disagree on LM's earlier stuff, and that's okay by me): this isn't anything earth-shattering from LM. Keep Logan stable and Lynch focused, add in a spark or two, and they could make a dent (albeit a small one) in the touring circuit.

The first two Lynch Mob albums, particularly their first, were quite good. Somehow, after that, Lynch lost the plot.

However, he is incredible live, as I've witnessed point blank more than once, which is a large reason why I'll be going on the Monsterwood Cruise next year.

p.s. It's still amusing to me, no matter how clever it may be, how Lynch Mob never caught hell for their name. Maybe it has something to do with demographics and lack of record sales as to why they never got flagged for it.

You've raised that point before, Metalboy! It is intriguing. Though I think the answer is pretty mundane: his name cuts off the discussion before it can even start. A reverse case is what happened with Anthrax in the wake of the mailings. No such cover and a lot of dumb arguments.

Gotta agree as well (though keep in mind my little "two minute story to tell" comment from a few weeks back): Lynch is amazing to watch live.
