Ronnie Younkins of KIX Makes Progress, Will Play With Band This Weekend

I recently posted about guitarist Ronnie Younkins of KIX entering rehab. Now, I have an update. KIX bassist Mark Schenker emailed me last night with some great news:

"Saw your post on Ronnie. Thanks for that, very nice of you to put it our there, he has gotten TONS of cards and letters from all over the world. He will be playing the Wisconsin State Fair with us this weekend, he is out of Rehab after about 60 days and he is doing well and is so very happy. It's very emotional for me because I truly disliked having to stand in the spot he has owned since the beginning of KIX, I felt like I was trespassing! So I will be really happy to move back to my old spot and look over to my right and see him mowing down those KIX songs with a ferocity that only he can muster!"

I'm sure the concert this weekend will be epic. My continued best wishes to Ronnie and thanks for all the great music.

Great news!!! We all know this band still brings IT..... in the studio.......on the stage and with rock n roll swagger. One of the mightiest of our heroes still producing and being viable. Not many left people.

Wonder what Ronnies poison was?

Glad he's man enough to nip it

Ronnie has always been the one that needed babysitting due to the fact this is not the first time that he gas done the disappearing act. I remember when Ronnie went missing before and he did not play @ Hammerjacks.. The one who went and found him was DONNIE PURNELL not any other from the band. You want to degrade Purnell but without him you guys would have nothing-give him a break.

Donnie was a mastermind but also an overbearing control freak. Either way, Rock Your Face Off was an awesome hit! No Donnie, but it was definitely KIX, through and through. Can't wait to see the Tally Ho show in October!!

Yes he was the mastermind of the band and he worked his ass for those guys. The music they play now will always sound like KIX that is the only sound they know. Donnie was always on the road traveling to write while the guys stayed at home and waited for a hand out. I am sure if he was still in the band and he gave you a back stage pass he would be the greatest person ever. Even the band Funny Money still had the bass kick ass sound that Donnie gave them.
