Jackyl's New Music Sure Is Something

Jackyl have a new album available for pre-order. It's called ROWYCO (you should be able to figure out what this means) and the first single is "Rally." The music part, especially the guitars, are really good. The chorus... isn't. The repetitive "rally, rally, rally" is a bit much, but the weird tribal chant is what I find most distracting. I'm staying positive for the rest of the album - maybe the other tracks will be better. Or maybe I'm being too hard on the band. After all, new rock music is way better than just about any pop garbage shoved down our throats by mainstream radio stations.

Why the hate? A couple years back, I was flipping channels one day and randomly landed on Palladia with Lang cranking out a massive solo during his set at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival. I heard of him but had never seen him before and was completely mesmerized by his playing.
BTW, I also saw Setzer with his 23 piece orchestra in 1998 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, however, I have never had the privilege of seeing Rick Springfield or Bruce Hornsby.
Speaking of "Jessie's Girl", you may prefer this version:

To Lang's credit, he has earned his stripes over the years, and now shows far more respect for the music than he did when he was a teenager. In fact, he has stated publically that he can't stand to listen to his first two albums now. I'm still not a fan, but the deep burning hatred has gone away at least. :)
Well, no doubt, Lang sure knows how to let that guitar wail now!
Hey, Didjya check out that link I put up at the end of my previous comment?
Glad you like 'em since they are a tad controversial. I actually had one of my friends who's also a "Reg" on here tell me she HATES 'em. I guess she's a purist, haha!! Which really raises the point for me about just how cool this is...
The idea of doing a "80's Hair Metal" mash-up album taking some of the most overplayed pop hits, some annoyingly mediocre to begin with and combining them together to make one great song executed so flawlessly is nothing short of brilliant!
However, unfortunately, they got a cease and desist order, one can only guess, due to copyright infringement.
Also, you can't help but wonder if they actually sampled some of the stuff, the lead singer's impressions of certain performers so flawless, even the most discerning listener can't help but raise an eyebrow. All of which is kinda strange, since if you watch their appearance st Donnington way back when, you'll see the singer's got the chops to spare.
I wonder if Ace or somebody has any scoops on what happened to these guys since they were an L.A. act?
