Steven Tyler Announces Solo Album, Tour Dates

We’re All Somebody From Somewhere is the title of Steven Tyler's first solo album. It will come out July 15th. His solo tour starts July 2. The album is country and you know how I feel about this: I don't like it. It breaks my heart a little, but Steven can do whatever he pleases. That said, I won't be buying the album.

Here's one of the songs from the album: "Red, White & You"

I don't normally support Tyler's recent output (watered down pap that aims for the sweet spot between barely decent and barely listenable).

But at least he is self-aware enough to name his tour something commensurate with the reaction this will receive (no less a bit country-tinged): Crickets Chirpin'.

Honk on that, Bobo! Now grab me some Skittles!

Awesome! (Not). Maybe Bret Michaels can open for him as they play theaters. This album will bomb, as will the tour. Country music is rejecting these wanna be's, as they should.

Now touring with Hootie... oh wait, I mean Darius Rucker.

Coming to a country concert near you:

Darius
Steven
Jon Bon :)

Older gals who know think country is the new glam metal will eat it up !

Too bad Tyler is needlessly pigeon holing himself by believing going "Country" in The Nashville Pop vein is the answer. He's taking a page straight from the Brett Michael's School of LCD Music (Lowest Common Denominator) aimed at the lower end of the spectrum of American Idol viewers. I'm talkin' dummer than the Honey Boo Boo set.

All of this, without realizing he could have pulled them in while at the same time snagging all of his hardcore Rock & Roll fans, meaning, basically everybody when you add 'em all up, just by putting out a Gram Parsons style Country Rock album the way the Stones would do country tinged stuff with him on "Exile on Main St." or they did on "Some Girls" with "Faraway Eyes", tongue firmly planted in cheek.

Lord knows, he's got the talent, brains, sense of humor and chops to come up with some really cool stuff along those lines that could really moved the needle for himself and now, instead, he lays a big giant egg...

I believe the well is running dry and that's precisely why he's going in this direction. Aerosmith in general has been barren of talented songs for some time. Same with Bret Michaels et al. Just my opinion of course.

What Steverox said.....

First of all, this is not country, nor is much played on mainstream country radio (but that's a discussion for another website).

I haven't heard anything but the lead single, but if that is any indication of what the rest of the record will sound like, no thanks. Of course, I've pretty much thought that anything past Done With Mirrors was not Aerosmith, but Aeroschlock. There have been moments, but I'll pass on that as well.

There is really too much good stuff out there to even be concerned with this nonsense.
