Stryper Announce 30th Anniversary Tour

Thirty years in the making, Stryper will tour in their original yellow and black costumes for the To Hell With the Devil anniversary tour. The tour will feature all four original members.
The tour dates will be announced soon. Everyone knows I'm not a big Stryper fan, but I do think it would be cool to see the band in their famous, throw-back costumes. I mean, I didn't get to see it live for the first time like many of you did. So who is planning on attending this tour?

But in that picture doesn't Oz Fox look, um, angry? His eyes sorta' follow you . . .
BTW, Stryper is one of Richard Chisty's favorite bands (He's on the Howard Stern Show, who does the prank phone calls). He also was/is the drummer of Iced Earth and has won many dumming awards. Anyway, he tells a story that as a young teenager growing up in Kansas, Stryper came to town (5 hours away, that is). He begged his parents to take him and they agreed. They packed up the car, drove 5 hours, waited in the parking lot as Richard went into the venue and then drove 5 hours back home afterward. Richard is known on the show for always talking lovingly about his parents and the things they did for him growing up and this is just one example.
I know there are some people in HS's universe that read this blog sometimes. I listen to other things and not Sybian rides and flat Ronnie with his gross sex tips. And, when repeats of Richard's stories come on the air, I purposefully turn up the volume for my sons to hear. The things parents are willing to do for their children. I'm sure we all have these type of stories.
Thing is, from a distance you can tell if you are listening to the House of Wah!

I kid. Obviously, Hammett isn't just the luckiest guy to ever replace a ginger who went nowhere. And he has one amazing horror collection. I give him that. 'Tallica rule(d)!!!!
Tell me you're just trying to bait me...
As well documented in Comments over the years here, I stand by my belief that it is actually Mustaine and Megadeth who are FAR superior to Hammet and Metallica... Why? Simply because he's a better songwriter AND performer than ANY of those a*sclowns.
As I've said, success isn't purely measured by album sales and bank account size alone. It's about the legacy an ARTIST leaves behind and, IMHO, just on the one song, "Peace Sells But Who's Buying", alone, Megadeth blows away anything Metallica could throw up against that track and many others, for that matter.
You have to know that I agree with you on the whole Megadeth issue (and have said so on occasion on this very site). Love the first three Metallica albums, enjoyed the next somewhat, and certainly got a bit thrown by the next (even if I recognize it's importance in terms of being a cross-over sorta' event that few bands manage). After that, I was pretty much done.
I certainly think Megadeth has been more consistent over the years. And they certainly haven't been afraid to take risks (which is a pun, even tho' I like _Risk_ and _Super Colllider_). While I prefer, as with Metallica, the first few albums, I still think that the Friedman/Menza-era is solid. And I thought the latest album, _Dystopia_, though it recycles a bit of stuff, was a return to form in terms of capturing a bit of the aforementioned era.
Heck, recall my Menza obit from a few weeks ago. I clearly think Megadeth deserve pride of place on any fan of trash's top ten list. And I also think that Mustaine's bio deserves a read (a reading pursuit that was kick-started at your suggestion . . . as I am now finishing up John Lydon's bio).
And I need to add, for my daily dose of humility, that I couldn't even begin to wipe Hammett's shoes. I have no talent. So being a keyboard jockey carries with it a need to realize that he has still, in spite of my poking, managed to riff over some of the major parts of my life loving metal. So I owe him a debt. Because, obviously, all of this is in good fun.
All my bullsh*t opinions merely stem from my passionate love of our music, something I haven't been able to shake since I first heard, at age 9, "Whole Lotta Love", on my olive green Westclox alarm clock radio in the middle of the night in late October, 1969 when "Led Zeppelin II" debuted.
p.s. Here's one for ya, HIM... One of THE Greatest Songs of All Time:

And I really do recommend his book, _Anger is An Energy_. Hearing his tales of this time in his life is a fascinating and funny treat.
At the end of the day, our motives seem the same: loving this music. What initially caused us to 'catch the spark' differs. But the motivations seem identical.
