Steven Tyler Comments More On Aerosmith Farewell Tour

A few months ago, Steven Tyler mentioned Aerosmith would do a farewell tour in 2017. Joe Perry rebuffed this claim but now Steven is doubling down. He said as much on the Howard Stern Show and it seems all but certain - at least from his perspective. Sure 2017 is a long time from now, especially if we're talking about a summer run. If a farewell tour happens, it will likely be big with a special opener and lots of dates. Being my favorite band, this is very bittersweet to me. It's like my childhood dying once and for all.

Only releasing 2 records of new material in 16 years, & the 2nd of those being an absolute dog, It's time for Aerosmith to hang it up. They've had 2 complete careers and nothing left to conquer.

Steven wants to go chase the C&W brass ring, Joe has his side band w/ Alice Cooper, Brad's got Whitford/St.Holmes again, & Joey's making coffee, while Tom is struggling to survive, it's just time to put Aerosmith to bed, for good.

Howard to Steven Tyler: You were always a handsome man.

Steven's response: You don't know, Howard, how much it costs to look this cheap.

I spit out my coffee laughing.

The Stones still have "it" live and from what I recall, so does Aerosmith. Do farewell tour the fans. Just slow down.

20 gig tour here a single there. Keep options over. Creatively as Ace mentioned they are on a dry spell. But who cares. Give us a single. Maybe it strikes gold. Maybe it's s dud

CORRECTED Morning Haze Typos: Sorry

Do Get Your Wings, Toys In The Attic, and Rocks, back to back to back. Go out with a bang for us old decrepit original fans. Lol C'mon guys, I freaking dare ya!! We can afford the $250/ head you'd probably charge for nosebleeds. And I, for one, would happily pay it to hear just those 3 albums rip my face off just one more time live. \m/ (wouldn't it be funny if they DIDNT play Dream On and I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing all throughout their final tour?) 8-p

sounds to me like Tyler is done with Aerosmith, and he assumes that no Tyler means no Aerosmith. that's fine with me. Saw them back in the day, don't need to overpay to see them now.

Bob, You are so right. I look back fondly on the days of paying $6.50 for floor seats to see Aerosmith with a brilliant opening act, like AC/DC... Those days are long gone.

Aerosmith hasn't been worth a flying f#ck for at least 20 yrs.

H*lluvan idea, Gary! But they should do "Dream On" as the encore.

If Tyler & Co. aren't going to set out to top "Rocks", they will always be destined to fail.

Still, it would be nice to catch 'em live one last time.

This merely circles back to the squabble that was posted a month or so ago. It seems as if Perry running interference is no longer interfering with Tyler's particular plane of existence.

So, if the band wants to keep going, do so under the same or another name (not sure who owns the brand . . . which is becoming a more and more common issue these days), with another singer.

i find it funny that on the heels of tyler thinking he can go it solo, live nation runs a $20 campaign to fill venues for his tour.

It's a shame that a band that has released so much great music in a long history can't record good new songs anymore. If this is their farewell I hope I get to see them because I've heard regardless of the new material they still bring it live. It's still kind of sad all these great bands are hanging it up for good.
Now all we need is more new kickass rock and metal bands to shake it up a bit.
