The Eagles Announce Concert Dates

A classic band I've never seen live is The Eagles. The group is hitting the road for a short "tour" this fall. It will be the first tour without Glenn Frey. Right now, only four dates have been announced:

  • Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina on October 17
  • Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on October 20
  • KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky on October 24
  • Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan on October 27

It's speculated that the band will announce more dates and make it more of a full fledged tour. Frey's son Deacon is playing guitar in the band for these dates. If you want to go to one of these shows, get ready: tickets are going to be really expensive.

Interesting in that the last interview I saw with Don Henley...he stated that there isn't an Eagles without Glen Frey. Wonder what changed? Oh I know...he doesn't make $$$$$ without The Eagles.

Money is the only logical reason for a re-united Eagles after the Henley comment you are referring to. To me, the smart thing to do would be to get Don Felder back in the band and add J.D. Souther, who is kind of referred to as the 6th member of the band. He co-wrote some of the Eagles hits and would fit in quite nicely replacing Frey as they have similar sounding voices. Look him up on YouTube singing the Eagles song Doolin Dalton, which I believe he co-wrote. With Felder back you certainly would not need Vince Gill and keep Frey's son for a nightly guest appearance.

@JCD Dude, I like the way you think. Thank you for recognizing Don Felder. The guy was a quiet, unsung hero of that band. Responsible for writing/co-writing a lot of their biggest hits. Can sing quite well to boot. Did I mention he can absolutely rip on the guitar. Joe Walsh is awesome, but he also gets a shit load of credit for solos than Don is actually responsible for on the original tapes.

Also, can I just add that Glen Frey (RIP bud) dropped the ball when he didn't name his son Deacon "Biggie". Think about it. "Biggie Frey". Damn kid would've been destined from birth to be a gangsta rapper....😛

Yeah Gary, Felder is a beast on the guitar to say the least. I have no idea where the Vince Gill addition came from. Vince is an incredible player and a good singer (although I don't care much for his voice) but Felder played on many of their most popular tunes and was a member in the essential incarnation of the band. Felder and Walsh, although quite different stylistically, were magic together.

don't hold your breath waiting for Felder to be back in the band. those guys hate each other. Don Henley, although a great singer and songwriter, as well as being a passable drummer, is an absolute tool as a person. I doubt he would even consider patching things up with Felder. also, depending on what you want out of a concert, the eagles are either amazing, or extremely boring. If you go to a concert to hear the songs played exactly like the album, then you will be blown away by the machine-like precision with which they stay faithful to the album arrangements. However, if you want to see a band take some chances and not play everything like the record, you'll be bored to tears. You might as well stay at home and listen to the records.
