Def Leppard Release 'Personal Jesus' Video

Def Leppard recorded a cover of the Depeche Mode classic "Personal Jesus" for Spotify not so long ago. The song is included on the new compilation called The Story So Far - The Best Of. What do you think? The band is actually in the video and it isn't a lyric cop out. I'd estimate this one took about... two hours to shoot and considerably long to edit of course. Thoughts?

Loved it from start to finish. Not to knock the other versions I've heard Marilyn Manson, Sammy, or Johnny Cash. But to me this just worked better for me. I'll take this over some of the other songs Lepp has tried to cover.

Personal(ly), Jesus (no). But you ain't always going to hit it out of the park. Agree to disagree, GNR. But I give you this: it is better than some of their covers.

. . . I should have added: the fact that they can barely tweak Martin Gore's guitar work is a testament to how gifted that fellow is with a catchy hook. Under-rated outside of their usual circles, to say the least.

I lawd them for this punched up version.

I’m just praying to my own “Personal Jesus” they let all their former members jam with them at their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Something tells me they will. It’s called “class”. Well at least when it comes to most of how they operate save for the cheesy product endorsements and tie-ins, as in the polar opposite of Aerosmith licensing the use of “Dream On”
