This 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Cover Is Amazing

I'm generally not a fan of Panic! At the Disco. I mean, they have a couple of really catchy songs but I don't go out of my way to listen to them. I've never seen them live. Last night, somehow, Eric stumbled on this cover and I was blown away. It's hard for bands to do Queen justice and "Bohemian Rhapsody" is one of the most famous rock songs of all time. Still, Panic! At the Disco does an amazing job here. I love the pro-shot live video, too. Good stuff.

I'm gonna say it just once. There is only 1 true band called Queen and they no longer exist. Not with that chic singer they've been using for the last few yrs, and not some hipster band Panic at the Disco either. Sorry to break it to anyone but I had to clear that up once and for all.

Bkallday is equal parts edgy and offensive and hilariously tone deaf. I think that is called a Turkey in bowling.

I don't really care for Boredom at the Roller-rink or the Adam Lambert-fronted version of Queen. And I also doubt that anyone disagrees with the notion that the classic Queen died when Mercury passed away. I enjoyed the + Paul Rodgers version of Queen a bit more, but that is because I enjoy Rodgers' voice.

But I do agree wtih bkallday on one thing: Nile Rodgers' Chic was one groovy disco-era band. At least I think that is what he meant to say.

Love ya, Bkallday. I missed squabbling with you even if I have enjoyed agreeing with you as of late (on some things, natch).

I could be wrong, but I think that cover had the most guitar overdubs since Kiss Alive! This version:

shows the limitations of that guitar player. And by "limitations" I mean he sucks. That, or he was on the back end of a three-day bender. And I do NOT like the canned vocals at all.

Geezus! Look, Panic at the Disco probably perform “Bohemian Rhapsody” live for the simple reason to, well, perform “Bohemian Rhapsody” live!

What I mean is, with Mercury gone, there’s not going to be too many options in terms of ways to hear “Bohemian Rhapsody” live, save for what amounts to what is now a scab version of Queen. Panic at the Disco, who I’ve always enjoyed because of their wide range of catchy, well written and performed songs, have the talent to burn to pull off doing “Bohemian Rhapsody” live.

I’m grasping at straws a little bit here, but, in other words, if one can perform such a song live, why not perform it live, simply because you can when virtually no one else can. I would imagine they probably enjoy performing it live out of the sheer satisfaction of having the ability to do so as well as hearing themselves actually recreate it!

It’s not bad. I think Pink and the Zac Brown band have done it better though!
