Hear A Sample Of New Dokken Music

Dokken's new release Return To The East Live (2016) is now available for pre-order via Frontiers. A bit of the new track "It’s Just Another Day” is available as part of the promo for this album. This is very exciting - and will be a great album!

There is a lot of studio fine tuning in that clip. That being said I will be a first day buyer as I own the entire Dokken catalog. I've been a huge fan since the beginning and am looking forward to hearing this as well as the new tune (which sounds pretty good). Understanding that Don's voice is shot, the fact that they put aside their differences and did this mini- tour and went into the studio without killing each other is awesome. George is on the record as saying he would like the original lineup to do some US venues in 2019. I'd be there to support them as they provided the soundtrack to my youth and are up there in my top 5 all time fav bands. Keep Rokken' boyz!

"Beast From The East" is one of my top 3 live albums of all time.

This maybe sounds better (production / mastering), but holy shit is Don's voice ever toast.

Don't think I will pick this up for that reason alone.

Always loved these guys back in the day. Lynch was,is,and always will be an absolute animal on the guitar. (As he proves in 2018 by the 63 different bands he's currently playing with. Lol) But as Mike stated, 40 years of booze, smokes, and blow have Dons voice about on par with mine. I'm guessing Lynch and Pilsen had to tune down to about A flat for Don to even pretend to hang in vocally. That said, I'll still probably pick this up. 🤘

"Rejiggered in the East Live-ish"!!!

As has been said elsewhere, this new song seems like it has an _Erase the Slate_ vibe. I think that is a good thing, as it plays to DD's soft-talking, slow singing, "style" these days.

As has also been said in other places, and is rightfully noted above, this "live" album is likely the result of a lot of hard work . . . by people other than the band! Difficult to square the sound here with the live videos of the actual performances themselves. But the overall sound, however it was created, is better.

I'm like you, Jeff. I remain a dedicated, if frustrated, Dokken fan for life. But Gary is right. What else do you expect when your version of healthy living involves booze, smokes, and nose candy? Glad the boys decided to play nice for once, and glad they got a bit of a payday out of it. But the "if onlys" and "could have beens" haunt these guys, DD most obviously.

[Sidebar: in other "live" news, people should check out Corabi's _Live 94 (One Night In Nashville_. There is an example of a guy who still has it vocally and otherwise, and presents the entire MC album in all its explosive and controversial glory! You won't be disappointed, and you won't have to make allowances for a singer way past him prime.]

That is, as long as you can get past his homeless look he has going, him. Lol

This is not how I want to remember Dokken. It's the same reason why I didn't go see Rush, possibly my all-time favorite band, on any of their final tours. I couldn't bear to hear Geddy struggle to hit every third note.

He (Corabi) is rocking a homeless look, Bkallday. Can't deny that.

Even tho Don’s voice is kringeworthy I will still go see them should they launch a North American tour for the simple fact it’s the only way to hear Lynch perform a bunch of Fokken hits as he might play one of your lucky when he’s out there with Lynch Mob

In regards to Corabi, one of the most amazing shows I ever saw was put on by an adhoc one-off band that was slapped together on The Monsters of Rock Cruise a few years back called Cinderella & Friends when Tom Keifer had to cancel boarding the boat at the last moment due to a severe case of the flu.

Corabi fronted the act, acting as band leader and master of ceremonies, ushering different members of different bands to sing and play guitar on a series of excellent covers. He also sang a few numbers particularly the standout, “Alright Now” by Free.

After the show I ran into Corabi at the bar and I told him how incredible it was including his guitar solo on that song. He laughingly confidence fed in me that he in fact, and I quote “pulled it out of my a*s!”, having never played it before, and gave me a big fat kiss on the cheek, haha!!

Haha!! Gogmagog! I couldn’t bear listening to Geddy Lee hit EVERY note!
