Aerosmith Plots Las Vegas Residency

It's all happening! Aerosmith will do a residency in Las Vegas during 2019 to celebrate 50 years as a band.

So far, no dates are announced and neither is the venue. The band will perform on the Today Show concert series August 15. My guess is that is when all the details will come out.

I'll be going to Vegas for this, shocking no one. I'll share the key details when they are known. For now, my advice is to save your pennies if you want to attend one of these dates. I think tickets will be pricey.

Ace, what is your bet on the venue? I mean, The Joint hosts these sorts of things all the time. It seems like the perfect place given the range of older bands (Leppard, KISS, Scorps, etc.). But are Aerosmith bigger than The Joint? Would they actually get an off-slot at a place like MGM or Caesar's?

Allyson, I hear you. I would hope they kept prices at least at Vegas-levels of reasonable (costs in Vegas, esp. on the Strip, seem to operate by a logic that befuddles me). When I want to retreat to another era (indeed, another universe), I head to Fremont Street. It is so much fun (the people watching is amazing). And you don't have to dip into your child's college plan to order a round of drinks! But I get the pull of the Strip too. I just barely go there anymore save when it is time to catch a show.

Yes, Aerosmith are bigger than the Joint. The rumored location is the new Park Theater. Apparently this happening in spring, maybe as early as April.

Thanks for the update, Allyson. And I hope you didn't take my comments to suggest that Aerosmith aren't deserving of a big venue. Still, The Joint has hosted some big name residencies. I guess that is all I was getting at.

The Park Theater is no joke. It is 1.2K bigger (seating) than The Joint and housed on the Strip. And that means that I will be waiting to find out what the prices will be.

I also notice that it uses some of the same design features of The Joint to pack as many people in as they can while still maintaining a good view for everyone. I wonder if the same people were involved in creating it (as I have never been in The Park).

Still interested in Ace's thoughts.
