Let The Speculation Begin

What's up with this? A new photo of Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, posted down the official Motley Crue Facebook yesterday. New tune for The Dirt? Also Bob Rock is to the right of the photo and I don't think he just shows up to hang out in the studio for free. The hitmaker ain't cheap, yo. Discuss.

In other news, DJ Asshat needs some help with bail so he can slash it up next to Sixx at the livestock exhibition in Tracy, Ca. And Rodger Waters just hired Neil to float above his next concert. Mars, meanwhile, is beyond reproach.
Sounds like something for the Dirt or overdubbing a live album from the end of the world tour.
As much as I enjoyed Generation Swine, it always irked me that we never got a follow up to MC94.
I agree with you, Mike. Have you listened to Corabi's _Live 94_ disc or, even better, did you get to see him while he was touring it? Reminds me (both seeing him live and purchasing the disc) what could have been . . . and he is no slouch now with the Dead Daisies. Corabi missed the brass ring. But his catalog holds up (and I include his acoustic album from a few years ago in that estimation). Great singer, amazing musician, humble with fans (most of the time), and reasoned in how he speaks about his life and career.
And I would love a reboot, Mike. I just don't think it is in the cards. Sixx is threatened by Corabi for some reason (my guess is that talent-for-talent musicians scare him). I doubt the latter would want to put up with the former given all the slagging. But it seems right when the one adult in the band, Mars, claims the Corabi disc is his favorite. [Note to haters: No, I didn't say that album is their best; nor did I say it sold well; nor did I say that it didn't take some people a bit longer to appreciate it. I just want to head off any of that noise.]
I think bkallday is right. Full stop. And I hope Jeff is wrong (no disrespect). No reason to uncork a new song that makes fans go "oh, okay" or announce a tour after they milked the last one (I hope, at least) to death. If this glorious movie is gonna move the needle, stick to what got you to this point: the classic tunes, in all their glory, with everyone firing, relatively speaking, on all cylinders. At the very least, that will give them one more reason to release another greatest hits album . . . I mean, a soundtrack to the movie!
The world will always need The Crue. But it doesn't need New Crue. Another full stop.
I have tried but CANNOT get into the Dead Daisies, although their newer release is certainly more tolerable now that Dizzy Reed is not involved.
I have no real expectation that Crue would ever reunite with Corabi, under a different name or not, just saying that I would personally find it badass if they followed the Heaven And Hell model.
All of that being said, it does warm my heart to see Sixx and Lee together in 2018 ... if you follow their social media accounts they have actually been hanging out semi-frequently between consulting on "the Dirt" move, to Tommy's 4th of July party, to now collaborating in the studio.
And I am like you . . . I buy my music, even if I window shop online occasionally. Just got the recent-ish Tygers of Pan Tang CD in the mail, direct from, and signed by, the band. Not the original band by a long shot. Still, it is a good dose of old school metal. I like to support that.
I can certainly understand your take on the Dead Daisies, Mike. I think their rotating cast of players, which was by design, has been a blessing and a curse. Perhaps the new, more stabilized, lineup will yield better results all around. I guess I just dig hearing Corabi and Aldrich (is he competing with Lynch for being in the most bands at the same time?) jamming together.
As much as I slag on the boys in Crue, I agree with you on another point. Nice that they can hang. In many cases, time, even short amounts of it, provides perspective.
But I shudfer when I think about how that movie will turn out. I certainly hope I am wrong. But I shudder.
Happy holiday weekend everyone.
But judging by Nikki Sixx’s and Bob Rocks’ double chins, they may just be there for the catering. Then again, if that was actually the case, you’d see Vince Neil in the photo, too.
In all seriousness, though, it’s probably for the movie soundtrack, or better yet, how about a little one stop shopping, BK and Shawn, they could knock out both the soundtrack AND a live album simultaneously!
