Tesla Announce 'Shock'

Metalboy's favorite band Tesla will release their new album Shock on March 8. You can hear a track from that new album via Spotify. Just click the Facbeook post from the band below to check it out.

I have a lot of things to do around the house this weekend. We are due for another winter storm (yuck) so I really have no excuse. I need to clean out the closets. Maybe I'll put on some classic Tesla while I clean. I'll be thinking of Metalboy all day long!

This is not terrible, sounds kind of decent, but doesn’t do much for me. Regardless, Tesla’s first 4 albums remain untouchable. One of my top five bands of the 80s and one of my favorite of all time as well.

Lastly, a message for Metaboy before he begins speweing his butthurt feelings about the band because the band didn’t want to hang out with his creeper ass: GFY

Yikes, Forge. Did someone call you Tobias on accident? Seems like you took a chance to give Metalboy! a good-natured ribbing (he deserves it, what with his irrational problems regarding Tesla) and turned it into something a wee bit harsh. Oh well. Your call. And I assume that stood for Great Friends Y'all.

I am in the middle with Tesla. When Forge isn't slapping his computer screen, he has it spot on. Those first few were classics. The rest has been a bit hit or miss for me. Still feel bad about what happened with Skeoch, though that seems largely self-inflicted.

And this song is okay, I guess. Not sure I hear the imprint of Collen as much as others on the interwebs suggest. Hopefully, they keep their shirts on.

And am I the only one who thinks the cover art looks like . . . the Wardenclyffe Tower? Image the vibration when that thing was turned on!

Okay, boyz, brace yourselves ... I actually kinda like it and I laud their attempt at a fresher, more updated harder Modern Rock sound and jettisoning the redneck acoustic guitars that f*cked up plenty of perfectly good songs on their first couple of albums.

“Shocked” is SO much better than most of their stuff and gets even better with age, so to speak as it gradually gets better and better as it moves away from the neo Grunge Mosern Rock sound (which is actually kinda cool, anyway) and gets progressively better and better particularly around the 2:18 and 2:42 marks.

And if Frank Hamnon is such a guitar god, where the h*ll is the guitar solo that could have really made this their first barnstormer in decades. Still, if this song and the new album’s title and graphics are any indication, there may very well be even better Hard Rock songs on “Shocked”.

p.s. “Irrational problems” you say, HIM? Besides their overall very mediocre catalog, I have simply pointed out their f*cked up “big timing” of their fans, fellow Rockstars and even a maître d at a cruise ship Sushi restaurant on the first “Shiprocked” Cruise and on a couple of the Monsters of Rock Cruises a few years back.

Specifically, during an already underway Faster Pussycat show, Jeff Keith comes waltzing into the half full venue and had 2 event security personnel remove several fans standing in front of him so he could get a better view. I mentioned this to Taime Downe and Ace Von Johnson of Faster Pussycat the next day and they both said they saw it and wondered what the f*ck was going on. Keith then left after only a handful of songs. When I explained it to them, both Downe and Von Johnson remarked, almost in unison, how f*cked up the situatiion sounded.

Another incident occurred during Vince Neil’s headlining performance on the maiden voyage of Shiprocked. The entire band minus Dave Rude, ironically, but including their entourage, came waltzing in right before a rolly polly Neil bounded onto the stage and launches into “Livewire”. Speaking of “Shocked”, that would be the word to best describe the look on Team TeslUGH!’s faces as they were brutally reminded of what REAL Rock & Roll sounds like.

No sooner had Neil launched into his third song, when Tesla & Co. abruptly got up from their seats and unceremoniously headed for the exits, much to the distraction of Neil, Strum and Blando (Zoltan Chaney was too busy doing his drumkit trapeze act to notice) as I’m sure the snub was intended.

The most ridiculous of all the bizarre episodes involving Team TeslUGH!’s occurred in a hilarious scene at the Sushi restaurant during the Shiprocked cruise ship’s maiden voyage in which Frank Hambone embarrassed himself without even being self aware enough to realize it. The restaurant was nearly packed with everybody including Neil, Strum and their “girlfriends” plus Lajun Witherspoon and his wife Ashley, Jeff Kieth and his very pregnant wife at the time and of course, Hambone and his wife.

I was actually helping Strum with menus and chop sticks as he had just watched me grab the stuff from the service station for my ex-lead guitarist and myself who were humbly seated at the bar as the frazzled maître d had informed us all the waiters had failed to show up for work that night.

Well, here comes Hambsz, easily a D-Lister in the Celebrity world, essentially interrupting a conversation between Strum, the Maître d and myself and demanding, “I need a new table. I need a table right away because I’m a musician and want more privacy because fans can see me now!”

Meanwhile, Strum, Neil and all the rest are ALL seated and not giving a sh*t whether it’s by the window or not. Just sayin’.

So, I put Tesla in the same category as Ted Nugent though his music is far superior to their’s. I can STILL appreciate a band’s music AND listen to it while simultaneously realizing they’re complete as*holes!

I knew you had it in you, Metalboy! Like I said, some ribbing can bring out the specifics right quick! And it was good-natured too. I hope you noticed that. And I certainly don't think those details you laid out speak to highly to how Tesla acts on occasion. First rate prima donna stuff. One of the reasons I am always so happy when I meet a band or artist I like (heck, even some I don't) and find them to be gracious and accommodating to fans.

So I think we can 'forge' ahead with our admiration for the music we all love. That includes you, Forge. I am not the courtesy police on this site. Like you, I make observations and offer opinions. Almost always it is specific to the content. And sometimes it also encompasses the context as well. I even go out on a limb and agree with posts by some on here with which I disagree . . . often. To my mind, un-like-minded folks can occasionally agree. Best to note that. Imagine if such a thing caught on?

As I also said, Great Friends Y'all (GFY).

Well, HIM, I didn’t know you had it in you to not remember that I previously posted ALL of my comments here previously numerous times.

Hopefully, by sharing the unfortunate chronicling of Tesla’s amateur behavior once again, people can understand the difference between poseurs who act like Rockstars as opposed to actual Rockstars who act like Rockstars. Or, better yet, REAL Rockstars who don’t act like Rockstars, i.e. AC/DC when I met them. Humblest, nicest guys you’ll ever meet. And obviously WAY more legit than the as*clowns in question.

Trust me, Metalboy! I remember(ed). I just liked the fact that my comments got you in the mood to do a retelling of your Tesla stories. For me, they never get old because they are so damn specific and telling.

If those happened to me, I would hold a grudge too. I guess I am lucky never to have met Tesla. Also, almost all the greats that I have met have been kind and interesting.

I also know that everyone has a bad day. But you document a pattern of behavior. So that is a far different thing. Not trying to start a squabble, Metalboy! Hope you know that.

I don’t hold a grudge, HIM! And the stories DID NOT happen to me!

That’s the point ...

Someone can say or do whatever you want to me but it’s when they bigtime other people is when I want to throw the as*holes overboard!

Fair enough, Metalboy! I get your point and support it.
