Eddie Van Halen Looks Pretty Good

Lots of tabloid fodder recently about the health of Eddie Van Halen. Read TMZ enough, and you'd be convinced Ed is knocking on death's door. Now, a surprise new photo of Eddie Van Halen surfaces on Instagram. A fan got to meet Ed over the weekend and she shared the photo with the world. I think Eddie looks pretty good. Definitely not too thin... and considering this chance meeting happened at a car dealership, I don't think Eddie is near death either. I mean, do you go pick out a new exotic car if you're about to die? (Click post below to view on Instagram).

And now we know why Frankie Banali has not been touring. Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali battling stage four pancreatic cancer since April 17th. http://sleazeroxx.com/quiet-riot-drummer-frankie-banali-battling-stage-four-pancreatic-cancer-since-april-17th/?fbclid=IwAR0yzvjhII4iQvLavNvMU16fx6yE6dl4x5d4ZBmUQ31lvOSFGzR_4h3RKm0

Metal guitar picks did not cause his throat cancer. The years of smoking did.
Also, here's why Frankie Banali has been missing shows:

Dale,
We must've been typing at the same time.

Thanks for the update, Dale, although what a sad and bleak update it is. I kinda thought that he was battling some type of medical issue. I met him (and Kenvi Dubrow) (and Carlos Cavazo) a couple of times way back when...when these groups didn't charge fans to meet them and you had to hang out waiting for them to come out and get on their tour bus. While Kevin was outgoing and friendly, Frankie was (and not in a negative way) much more reserved and professional, though he did sign autographs and pose for pictures. So, when I was reading on-line that he was missing gigs, considering he is in his upper 60's, I did think that he was battling some sort of illness, as his level of professionalism throughout the years seemed in stark contrast to someone who would miss a show without a valid reason.

Pancreatic cancer is particularly horrendous as it quickly spreads to other organs and is rarely detected in its early stages. The American Cancer Society reports that only about 23% of patients with cancer of the pancreas are still living one year after diagnosis. About 8.2% are still alive five years after being diagnosed.

Hear, Hear, oper8n.

Over the weekend, I was driving my daughter to her soccer game. Afterwards we went to McDonalds. I was listening to Ozzy's Boneyard on Sirius XM and by extension so was my daughter. In between songs, the DJ was talking about EVH's most recent cancer battle and that he claims it came from putting a metal guitar pick in his mouth. My 10yo daughter looked confused and asked me if that was possible. In my best 45 impression, I started saying "FAKE NEWS, KAKE NEWS" and waved my hands back and forth.

I said that Eddie Van Halen has been smoking cigarettes (sometimes up to 4 packs/day) since he's been about 10-11yo. She shrieked back, "Who the heck let's their child smoke at 10 years old?1?!". I explained that it was a different time back then...and don't say heck. :]

Shame about Banali, despite his questionable business practices.

And, though Oper8n would probably know better than anyone, one would conjecture EVH’s cancer is most likely caused by cigarette smoking but why would he raise the notion about his metal guitar picks?

Maybe there is validity to that diagnosis. After all, aren’t metal teeth implants and fillings found to be cancerous causing which is why so many people I know have had them removed?

Regardless, Godspeed to them both. No matter what these gentlemen’s indiscretions may have been, there’s no taking away their contributions (particularly EVH) to and passion (both) for Metal and Rock & Roll!

And let’s hope Eddie’s new McLaren isn’t a bucket list item but rather, another addition to his ever expanding collection of fine motor cars.

p.s. And, judging from her passionate post and the genuine smile on her face, I get the feeling Susi is for real and not the cliché when it comes to car salespeople.

MB: I am breaking another rule (again) about not replying to you. I am not a medical professional, but I do occasionally play arm-chair physician on the Internet. However, as you know, I was a CPS caseworker for many years, too many years, in fact. Anyway, I won't get into all of the specifics, but I had a case one time (I think you may have even been peripherally involved) whereby a child/adolescent was diagnosed with Anemia, as confirmed by the three major hospitals/doctors in this region. The parents were doctor/hospital shopping.

The parents were members of the Wicca Religion and believed in alternative treatments and faith-healing. They found a Board-Certified Medical Doctor in a nearby County, who diagnosed the child with Mercury poisoning stemming from the cavity fillings in his mouth. This doctor referred the child to another quack-pot dentist in another State who extracted about half of his adult teeth. The former Doctor was banned from practicing in the aforementioned hospitals and was sanctioned by the State. When I first met this young man (about 12-13yo) at his home where his family was "hiding him" from the visiting nurses he weighed about 70 lbs and his skin looked "battleship grey". I told the family that they were taking him to the hospital or I was. There was no room for debate...although they vehemently tried.

A long, arduous contested Juvenile Court Hearing ensued. The family hired a local-famed attorney who ultimately went to jail for tax evasion not related to this case (you know who), but we finally got this child the medical help he needed and saved this child's life. He privately thanked my one time from his hospital bed for helping him. A little more to the story, my supervisor at the time ultimately became the director of the agency a few years later. At her confirmation hearing in front of County Council, many people got up and spoke fondly of her and recommended her for the position. One audience member got up and said some very mean, untrue and defamatory statements about her and yours truly. It was the boy's mother. I guess that's what one must endure for helping someone.

I am not against alterative medicine and/or treatment. Nor, am I against any non-traditional religion, but when your child is dying, I recommend Western medicine.

peace/rock on
