Motley Crue Fires Back At Reelz

Reelz Channel apparently made an unauthorized documentary of Motley Crue, piggybacking off the success of The Dirt. This didn't go over well with Nikki Sixx of Vince Neil. Now Motley is promising legal action. This matter pends.

Last I checked, permission from the subject was not needed to produce a documentary or write a biography?

As Shawn, Gary , myself and others have been saying, Neil should be playing the great songs of “Exposed”.

In fact, he should either open or encore with the Top Ten hit, “Your Invited”! I think he would be pleasantly surprised at the audience reaction, which, if he nails it, would be HUGE, no pun intended!

We all know the Exposed album because we are into this scene... in the same way many posters here would know that Steve Stevens played on that album, in between Atomic Playboys and Jerusalem Slim.

Does not mean that the hordes of soccer moms and casual music fans who would go see Vince at the county fair would know "Sister of pain" from "Breakin in the gun"

Vince is billed as "The voice of Motley Crue" and consequently playing a set of Crüe songs because that is what talent buyers request and what 90% of his audience is expecting to hear.

If he were motivated, I could see Vince having 2 set lists prepared - a Motley set for fairs and casinos; and a set with deeper Motley songs and solo tracks for when he is booked to play one of those hair metal revival festivals alongside Tyketto, fake Ratt, Steelheart and Bangalore Choir.

... again, that would require motivation, which I don't think Vince has had since 1995.

@Mike great point about Steve Stevens he probably drove the creative process on that album - The guy is a total monster shredder who does not get the respect he deserves.

The Crue boys come off as really petty here. I haven't watched this particular episode yet, but have found some of the other Breaking the Band shows to be very interesting. The one about the Supremes was particularly good. It had been talked about for years that Berry Gordy, while certainly a monster figure in the music business, was a pretty unethical guy along the way when it came to how he treated some of his artists, and this episode showed clips from an interview with Florence Ballard that confirm those rumors. yeah, Reelz can get pretty low sometimes, but I don't think Breaking the Band is an example of that lowness. Interesting sidenote, Dee Snider is the narrator for that series. I wonder how he feels about the Motleys throwing a hissy fit.
