80s Metal Workout - Playlist

Amazon has a playlist called 80s metal workout. Actually, they have a whole slew of workout playlists, but the 80s metal one caught my eye for obvious reasons. There's good stuff here, featuring tracks from Exodus, Slayer, Poison and RATT... plus "Silent Lucidity" from Queensryche. Why? I have no idea why that song is on the playlist (five songs in) other than to remind you to stretch or something. Maybe I'll cue this playlist up for my run tomorrow morning. I'll skip the 'Ryche though. I need all the help I can get running up hills!

Personally, I don't mind what it's called (hair metal, hair nation, glam rock, cock rock, classic rock, etc.) as long as there's loud guitars, a melodic solo, a killer hook and a catchy chorus it's a-OK with me!
I think many of us that grew up with this music would be OK with calling it hair metal. I also think most of us can clearly distinguish between genres and know that those "glam" bands we love are clearly more rock than metal, and on many radio stations these days it's even classic rock (damn I'm old). I used to think that was Boston, REO, Styx, Journey, but Poison and Ratt would fit right in there as well.
I would argue early Queensryche is full on Metal. Just listen to my favorite Queensryche song, “Queen Of The Reich”. If that ain’t Metal, I don’t know what is.
And although Ryche may have some harder tunes, here and there, they still arent considered "Metal". More progressive than anything. Just coming from a true Metalhead, when i wanna hear real metal, the last thing i wanna be hearing is glam rock. Although i obviously love my glam, when im wanting to hear Megadeth or Metallica and Poison comes on....just ugh. Of course only my opinions!
