Blue Murder - Killer Clip

John Sykes is amazing, no doubt. This Blue Murder clip proves it. No clue what year this is - probably around '88 or '89. If you know, post in the comments!

Wow - I am aware of John and knew he was/is a great talent but the song Jelly Roll never grabbed me so I overlooked this..I will give a better listen. I knew John was a shredder and that David Coverdale used him then let him go..

Mr. Coverdale would do well to re-unite with Sykes before he brings it all to an end. That is, if you can find John Sykes in his very long hiatus. I say Whitesnake with Sykes and Adrian Vandenberg before it comes to a close.

I saw the Blue Murder trio at the old Hammerjack's in Baltimore back in the day. Awesome show!

Whitesnake+Sykes=stone cold classic albums
Blue Murder=not so much

I had all the Blue Murder stuff (I recently sold my 6,000 CD collection) and, though Shawn and Basileus are right about the songs not being all that great, Sykes and Vandenberg sure did shred as Shawn points out, so, I still woulda loved to have seen ‘em when JR did at Hammerjack’s!

6k?!?! Damn, MB. What all genres was that and howd ya find someone to purchase them, and how much? Thats a crazy number to me. I have like 600 and thought i was doing good! Lol

It killed me to part with them, BK, but I just couldn’t keep hauling them around so in this last move, I fortunately found a good home for them. The collection is made up of all genres but I would say 2,000+ are Metal including over 1,000 Hair Metal ilk.

Unfortunately, there’s just no real market for CDs as everyone is into vinyl now. I do believe there will be a market for them again, however, but I couldn’t wait and it just became impractical to move them halfway across the country.

That said, I did manage to keep around 200 of the holiest of grails, mainly in the 80’s/90’s Hair Metal category (Sorry, Tom Keifer, who recently took umbrage with the term, haha!!).

Hopefully you kept the Badlands debut, which has long been out of print and is not even available for download?

on tour for the second album i saw blue murder at dallas city limits (now a strip club formerly owned by vinnie paul). awesome show. but the best part was getting to meet john sykes the night before at a different club (the basement, itself with ties to pantera, but now an autozone store). sykes was really cool to hang out with - from what i remember. just wish he’d do something again.

Basileus ... I did NOT hold onto the Badlands CDs as they are still gettable at a fairly reasonable price on Ebay. The stuff I’m mostly talking about trades for hundreds, even thousands.

To get an idea of the kind of stuff I’m talking about, go to heavyharmonies.com and look under Ebay Rarities on the left of the home page ...

Check out The Catz A*s, Kidd Wikkid, Cobra Dane, Friction, ELI, White Eagle, Cry Baby, Bad Fashion, Theatre, The Movies, to name a few off the top of my head. You can listen to a lot of it on YouTube, for instance, The Catz A*s’ Hair Metalized cover of “Last Train To Clarksville” for a good laugh.
