Dee Snider Records New Holiday Track

I was out briefly this afternoon. I popped in to a couple stores and it was bedlam. I swear, people were shoulder to shoulder, which is not ideal right now. Christmas music was blaring, carts were full. It did not take long for me to nope out of the situation. Maybe people are buying holiday gifts now in anticipation of more COVID lockdowns? Incidentally, I went to Sam's Club to buy paper towels and the entire aisle was picked clean. No paper towels or toilet paper anywhere. Same story at my COSTCO, too.

So maybe people are panic buying or maybe they are in the holiday spirit. Dee Snider has a "new" Christmas song and Lzzy Hale, of Halestorm, helps sing along. The song is called "The Magic of Christmas Day."

Dee originally wrote the song as a gift for his wife back in the 90s. It was called "God Bless Us Everyone" and was eventually recorded by Celine Dion of all people. Dee reworked the track as a duet for him and Lzzy and made it a rocker, once and for all.

I hear you, Allyson. I shop off-peak hours just to avoid the crowds. But I am noticing some bare shelves in my stores as well. It is getting very hard to find the ingredients for my artisanal pickles and sourdough bread!!!

I will say this, Snider stays busy. And, personally, I prefer him rocking out rather talking. As he has grown longer in his once-sharpened tooth, his tendency to gnaw on his foot has increased.

He still sounds good. And this is good by the standard rocking-holiday-fare metric. Lzzy also sounds in fine form.

My problem (and it really is my problem)? I don't really dig holiday songs, traditional or rocking. If I was to pick one that makes me smile, it would be Dokken's version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town":

Then again, I like more Dokken than I probably should.

What say you, posters? Your favorite metal holiday jingles? I know this is a yearly thing. But it is nice to put a festive spin on these grim times.

I hear ya Himster. I do like holiday stuff after Thanksgiving. Band Aids tune brings me back And I love singing it. and I love a little Please Come Home For Christmas by U2. I like em from 1990 and earlier. I pretty much despise most of the metal Xmas stuff. One notable awesome tune is Lemmy singing Run Run Rudolph. Lemmy’s gravel voice is perfect for it. But... just as LEMMY said, he is not metal.

F all the people who are starting the season now. It’s too early even if your year has sucked!

Kixchix, you had me laughing! And I forgot about Lemmy's take on Berry's song.

I remember an exchange on the show Mom, where Allison Janney's character is talking on the phone with one of the tenants in the apartment complex she manages. She says (I paraphrase): "Don't forget that I put up the Christmas lights and paid for them out of my own pocket!" The exasperated tenant respond: "I know! It's February! When are you going to take those damn things down!!!"

I’m actually a s*cker for Holiday Music, particularly the pop standards of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s but also love the Metallization of such hits ...

I’ll post a playlist of Holiday Metal and Punk closer to Christmas Eve.
