Boy still has his chops, though, which is amazing considering all the self-branded tequila he must put away (maybe he doesn’t) ... Wish he would put those chops to a cooler concept and a new album of ORIGINALS ... And he can start with the name FULL CIRCLE, one of the STOOPIDEST uninspired names for a ROCK band ever! ... UNROCK!
Song sounds fine . . . enough. Hagar's voice is not suited to Bowie. That's my take. And when I hear him sing "Like the dolphins . . ." I start to cringe. It reminds me of so many of his treacly lyrics while in VH. And it is not his lyric; it's Bowie's. So does he bring the cheese to fore with his singing? I dunno. Words written and words sung are different things.
I give him credit for staying active and releasing content and being way smarter than a lot of people when he jumped on the spirits bandwagon and scored a killing financially. He may talk of speaking with aliens. But Hagar has some business acumen.
And I actually suspect a lot of the DLR vs. SH stuff, no less the EVH stuff prior to EVH's passing, was just show business. Annoying, at least to me. But a simple and effective way to prime the pumps and stay in an ever decreasing slice of the public eye. I even thought his recent back and forth with DLR re: the cartoon was actually measured and good-spirited . . . and it had people talking about both of them.
