This Seems Tone Deaf

I've been keeping an eye on the M3 Rock Festival page, basically waiting for the eventual cancellation. So many shows and festivals have already canceled that will take place well after M3. Last night, the official page put up a notice that the show would either take place on the original date (yeah right) or be postponed to later in the summer. Rescheduling this thing will be a nightmare. Remember, the festival right now is set for May 1 - May 3.

Sorry to say but may 1-3 will not happen. Not the way New York and the north east is getting hit!!! I am also willing to bet August will be to soon!!!!!!!!

I think you and I (and 1,000s of others) have the same crystal ball, Dale. Sad fact. And the situation in New Orleans right now is horrible. How can your heart not go out to everyone who is dealing with this situation, in ways large and small?

Sorting out who plays when and where is secondary to protecting people, those we love and those we don't even know.

Only those with the most jaundiced of eyes thinks they can just power through this thing (I am looking at you Dana White). Bravado doesn't inoculate you to the virus. And ignorance kills.

Be well everyone. We still have the music.

I am beginning to fear August as well - with the 80th Sturgis Rally approaching I am in fear that it may be cancelled as well as it should be if this does not get under control -- if there is such a thing as control anymore.

Tons of extremely sad stories hitting the press. Still trying to avoid the news.

Stay safe everyone.

Funny you say Sturgis and I'm watching two different set of 6-8 Harley Riders out today for a cruise in Wisconsin. And we are under a "stay at home" order unless necessary travel.

And as for sad stories, I wish the media would also report about those that have recovered more and shed some light from that angle. You can report on a positive case #, but do you remove the number when someone recovers ? How about the amount of negative cases ? You know, give people some hope ! Otherwise it feels like you are watching a countdown to extinction clock.

I hear you, GNR. There are actually some really great stories out there. It is just hard to find them in the auto-cultivated sea that becomes our daily media scroll. The nice thing is that media groups left, right, and center are publishing them. But you have to dig.

The other issue (at least for me, as I think your point is more than fair GNR) is that some charts out there, the ones that show confirmed/recovered/deceased info (and, in some cases, negative), are starting to look really scary.

So, again, I support the idea of searching out those signs of hope. They exist. You just have to find them in a world where 'it bleeds, it leads' still holds sway.

GNR: I speak your name. Every day for the past week or so, when I get up and before I turn on the TV, I sigh and beleageurly say to my family, "Let's see if the sky is still falling".

In case you didn't see this recovery story, Jon Bon Jovi reported over the weekend that his 17yo caught Covid 19. They isolated him in their home, followed doctor's advice and now he has recovered.

@GNR Amen.
In the media category I'll take "This doesn't whip people into a hysterical frenzy" for $600 Alex.
Do de do do,do de do.....

What is good news Alex? Correct! You still control the board....8-)

@GNR I don't understand why these guys wanna push the envelope with gathering for a ride. It was beautiful weather here this weekend but I worked on my backyard - I could hear the V twin rumble from time to time. I have taken mine out but just to run a few miles to keep the battery charged.

Really no destination to actually ride to -- we like to ride to get dinner or hit a watering hole but they are all closed.

I was shocked at the number of people on the roads Saturday and Sunday.

Just announced:

The 2020 M3 Rock Festival, originally scheduled for May 1-3, is being rescheduled to Labor Day Weekend, September 4-6, 2020 due to the coronavirus. All tickets will be honored on the new dates, of course. Unfortunately Ratt will no longer be able to perform, but we are thrilled to announce the addition of Winger and Queensrÿche to the lineup! We can’t wait to rock with you this September! Stay safe and see you at Merriweather soon. Keep your eyes peeled for additional info from Ticketmaster about these new dates.
