That One Time When Steel Panther Became A Boy Band

Steel Panther is at it again. The band has a new video and this time, they are a boy band called Four Pump Chumps. The look is a cross between The Backstreet Boys and N'Sync (of course) and Steel Panther nails it. The song "Let's Get High Tonight" is ridiculous, but what else would you expect from them at this point? The track is from the album Heavy Metal Rules.

However, they are still a blast to watch live and their first two albums (especially Feel The Steel) are really, really great.
And I prefer the Mariachi Band look over the Boy Band look any day of the week. But maybe that's just me.
I see what you mean about the boy band thing however, I still haven’t pressed “play” yet because I’m still laughing at the opening still shot ...
Though I’ve seen ‘em 5 times, they aren’t exactly my cup of mercury.
But since you seem to like ‘em, now I love ‘em!
Missed you, as everyone else did also, my fare Metal Maiden!
!
I take them with a grain of salt. I used to love them but the new material has been very disappointing. And while their schtick does get old fast now, they still make for a fun night if you see them live. They just need to write better new material.
Saw them last December though and it was still really enjoyable. So I have not given up on them completely.
And, Eddie, with all due respect (and for you, I have much), I would have to say Cheap Trick would be a primary example of a band that might be an exception to your rule, at least until they stopped being really funny and clever.
Everything about them (except their extraordinary musicianship) is intended to be a joke.
Those first 3 albums are pretty much a total leg pull, particularly, “Heaven Tonight”.
Their “cheap trick” is writing and performing songs that are rife with stolen riffs and cleverly funny lyrics. The problem is, the stuff pretty much stopped being funny from “Dream Police” on ...
I’ve been saying all along, Steel Panther should take a cue from them and write more clever, double entendre lyrics.
