Big Janet Gardner Energy!

Janet Gardner, formerly of Vixen, will release a new album called Synergy later this year. The project is a collaboration with her husband Justin James and the band is known as Gardner/James. Now the duo has a new video for the song "Wounded." I dig it!

I think (I think?) Bkallday and I are in agreement here.

That said, this has a bit more of the Vixen-vibe than some of her other recent stuff. And I never fully understood the story about her leaving Vixen. Then again, I wasn't paying a lot of attention. Besides, they sound just fine with FF's Lorraine Lewis. In fact, when "Waiting For The Big One" (get it, wink wink, nudge nudge . . . it is about LOVE) came out back in the day, I thought it was Vixen!

And I get it. Gardner is chasing her muse with Mr. Eye and Ear Candy (or as I call him, Ritchie Faulkner's younger brother, Stu). Good for her! And is it just me or does their bass player look like a slightly out-of-shape (no stones here!!) Todd La Torre?

Will this move a lot of needles? Probably not. But good to see that both she and Vixen are still around making music. There is a place for this.

I don’t get it and I won’t get it!

But hey, happy I saw VIXEN four times (point blank, natch!) with Gardner ...

And happy for Gardner she can be jammin’ with Stu ... Wait! ... I guess I DO get it!

not bad at all, glad she’s still going and looking forward to see her (or anybody) live soon. pretty lame crowd in the video though.

I dig this. It would fit perfectly fine into a Vixen setlist, or a setlist with Vixen songs. More power to her still putting out new music, very few of our 80's heroes do. Of course, there is little to no audience for it unfortunately.

I wonder if guitar driven rock will ever find heights of popularity again ... normally music cycles, so let's see.

Thanks for the nod, Metalboy! That made me smile after a particularly rough day.
