The Best Guitar Solos Of All Time: Number 12

I thought it would be fun to countdown my picks for the greatest rock guitar solos of all time. Today we'll start with number 12: "Afterlife" by Avenged Sevenfold. The song is on the band's 2007 self-titled album. "Afterlife" actually is not my favorite A7X track - that will probably always be "Unholy Confessions." Still, the guitar work in "Afterlife" cannot be ignored. It is just great work.

The guitar solo is performed by Synyster Gates and starts around the 2:50 mark. The track was written by late Avenged Sevenfold drummer The Rev.

Come back tomorrow and see what song I chose to come in at number 11!

Geesh. I wish we had started at number 11 or 10. I get that people love Average Centerfolds. But I would rather feed the pigeons in Linkin Park (that is a real place, right?). Or listen to Iron Maiden (you guys . . . you know all about the twin guitar thing, dontcha?).

Thing is, I gave this another spin because of Allyson. But I stand by my thoughts. It starts off Adrian Smith and David Murray . . . and then it sounds like someone hit 'pulse' on a blender!
