'A Bit Of Lightning'

Turns out I really dig the band Flat Black.

Their song "A Bit of Lightning" has great guitar solos and no wonder - the band was formed by Jason Hook. You might recall that Hook was previously a guitarist for Five Finger Death Punch.

"A Bit of Lightning" is on the Flat Black debut album Dark Side of the Brain. It came out over the summer. Flat Black is performing on the Shiprocked cruise festival later this month.

My wife and I got a chance to see Flat Black back in October when they opened for Godsmack and Nothing More at Mohegan Sun in CT. Really good show. If you ever get a chance to see Nothing More... TAKE IT! Fantastic live band! And it was great to see Jason out on the road again. My wife and I have known him for years (since he was playing for... wait for it... Hillary Duff! Long story.). He really has such a unique sound. I find that Flat Black's first single, "Lack of Respect" had a real 5FDP sound, whereas "A Bit of Lightning" is true Jason. If you want to hear some real guitar virtuosity, look for his solo (although I think Jeremy Spencer helped out as well) instrumental CD called "Safety Dunce". Great stuff.

Thx for the tips Eddie! I like nothing more now. and at times the singer looks like a young Kip Winger :)
