Buckcherry - 'Set It Free' - Official Video

Buckcherry is working on a new album right now to be called Roar Like Thunder. The band just released the song and video for "Set It Free" from the upcoming release. The album will be a day one acquisition for me.

Buckcherry is always good for a fun time and their shows are awesome too.

She's definitely losing the cleaning deposit on that studio rental...

Agreed. That's a funny observation, Texjay. Had me giggling after watching the video. And I hope she doesn't sue you to get some of it back! You own the damned place!!! By the way, what is the rent, Texjay? And how do feel about squatters? Just asking for a friend.

But, circling back to Allyson's post, Buckcherry (aka Josh Todd's Buckcherry Experience, LLC) continues to put on great live show with Todd being an energetic dervish of whirling and jumping. Thing is, they have a deep-ish enough catalog to play the tunes from yesteryear, while often sliding in one or two new-ish ones that won't make fans (who show up early if they are far down a multi-band line-up or on a side-stage or are there in that small club because they want to be there) bolt for the bathrooms, bar, merch stand, or exit. I mean, come on! Their cover of Iona Pop's "I Love It" it a stupidly lovely experience live . . . and was covered/written in 2014 or thereabouts.

Their most recent stuff? Uh. Um. Oh, that was good. What was that? I see what you are doing . . . meh. Mixed bag, folks. This song? Listen to it again and think about it: couldn't you hear this gaining some steam as a country song if you shifted around the music a bit (and left the lyrics alone)? Sure, it is kinda' catchy. But it is kinda' catchy in a way that "Lit Up" (1999) and "Crazy Bitch" (2006) were actually catchy (and Todd was already plug-and-playing with band members between those two songs).

My point? There have been diminishing returns over time in terms of what they have released, even if Todd and whoever (and that is not a slam) tours with him still bring it live. And I, for one, will still go see them live, even if I will likely never buy another album they release. So, too, my continued appreciation that Todd is healthy and alive and that he and his crew are still out there making it work. No harm in any of that at all.
