House Of Lords, 'Mistress Of The Dark' -- Lyric Video

House Of Lords released a new album this year called Saints and Sinners via Frontiers. One of the album tracks is "Mistress of the Dark" and the band just put out a lyric video to promote the song. This is for all of you who love the obscure or under-appreciated. Be sure to mention this track and impress your relatives at your Christmas gatherings tonight and tomorrow!

Stryper just dropped their lyric video for the track "Near" from their new album The Final Battle. This is a good ballad! What do you think?

'Merry Axemas!' - New Video Game Level

Ice Nine Kills has a metal Christmas tune for the rest of us called "Merry Axemas" and you better believe there's an elaborate video for it too (below). The clip uses a classic video-game theme and this year, there is a new level for those who like to play. I am not too good at video games because that was never really my thing, but I do love the throwback video to the INK game and how the graphics are straight out of The Oregon Trail. Go enjoy, play and good luck!

Copyright Laws Give Us New (Old) Pink Floyd Tunes

The European Union has a law requiring musicians to release recordings before they hit the 50 year mark, or they lose rights to the songs. This means tracks, maybe deemed not good enough for studio release, often get shelved until the 50 year mark comes around and (these days) artists do a dump to streaming platforms. The tracks usually don't stay on platforms for too long, so check them out while you can - Variety has a nice explainer of the entire situation.

For our purposes, we are just going to celebrate being able to listen to new (old) Pink Floyd tunes that give us an insight into the band's working and creative process at the time before Dark Side of the Moon was recorded and released.

Below, you can hear "Money" before it was finalized for DSOTM. "Money (Live At The Palais des Sports, Saint Ouen, France 1 Dec 1972)."

Here's another DSOTM noodling - called "The Travel Sequence"

Here's "Time / Breathe (In The Air) (reprise) (Ultra Rare Alternative Version)"

Bret Michaels Celebrates 'Monday Night Football'

Watching pre-game coverage of Monday Night Football, who did I see but Bret Michaels and actor Brian Baumgartner (The Office) hype up the Packers before their game against the L.A. Rams. Even Packers QB Aaron Rodgers made a little appearance in the video. Apparently, he's a huge Office fan.

Winery Dogs, 'Xanadu' -- New Song And Video

My beloved Winery Dogs have a new song and video out called "Xanadu." The song is from the upcoming album III, due in February. Richie Kotzen sounds great on vocals and guitar here, but when does he not? The Winery Dogs are playing Harrison, Ohio in early March and I would love to go!

Sunday's Best: Week 51, 2022

Last week felt long but I was busy with work so at least things kept moving forward on that front. Plus a project that felt like it was never advancing finally got some momentum! We are a week out from Christmas and Hanukkah starts tonight, so merry everything to everyone. I hope you can avoid your local mall - going to the hardware store, I noticed parking lots and crazy drivers everywhere.

I've been spending my morning decluttering, which is one of my favorite hobbies. I love giving things away to my local buy nothing group - and Goodwill, of course! If cleaning up your closets is a New Year's resolution, go ahead and get started. Once you start, you probably won't want to stop. It's addictive!

On the music front, we have a special clip from Steel Panther. I actually saw it on YouTube a couple days ago, but our friend Crued messaged it to me so I thought I might as well share. Crued said "This is why rock isn't dead" and I think he's right. Steel Panther welcomed a 17 year old on stage to play a cover of Van Halen's "Panama" and it's pretty epic. The kid's name is Jake Hunzi from New York state. His social bios note that he's a guitarist who practices for hours at a time. Jake's smile made me smile. Good times!
