Roger Waters - David Gilmour Feud Hits Twitter

Oh boy. It's never good when band feuds spill over into social media. We all know that Roger Waters and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd basically hate each other these days.

Well, Roger has been on the wrong side of history for quite some time regarding Russia and the invasion of Ukraine. Gilmour's wife, Polly Samson, tweeted about Roger yesterday. It should be noted Polly isn't a regular rock spouse - she's also a Pink Floyd songwriter. Samson called it straight after Roger's recent interview in a German newspaper...

Of course, media picked up on this whole thing. I actually saw it myself because I follow David Gilmour and noticed he "liked" Polly's tweet.

Well, now Roger Waters is freaking out and "looking into legal action." This after the dude said Israel is just like Nazi Germany... and Ukraine is full of Nazi's too. I dunno man. Not a good look.

Congratulations To Ozzy Osbourne On His Grammy Wins

The Grammys were held last night in Los Angeles. I didn't watch much of the show - I dipped in and out - but Ozzy Osbourne had a big night. He won two Grammys and was nominated for four. Ozzy took home a statue for Best Rock Album for Patient Number 9 and he also nabbed best metal performance honors for the song “Degradation Rules” (featuring Tony Iommi).

The big wins come just days after Ozzy announced his retirement from touring. He did not attend the ceremony and his awards were accepted by album producer Andrew Watt and Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo.

All the Grammy winners from last night are online - an interesting upset was Bonnie Raitt winning for "Song of the Year" for her track "Just Like That." She beat out Taylor Swift, Lizzo, Beyonce and Adele (among others) for the honor.

The Coverups Do Motley Crue's 'Live Wire'

Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt of Green Day also have a side project called The Coverups... and they do cover songs. For whatever reason, I was surprised to see them do a Motley Crue tune.

Watch as The Coverups do "Live Wire." It is kind of crazy how Billie Joe Armstrong can make his voice sound high just like Vince Neil did on that original recording.

'You Betray' -- L.A. Guns, New Song

L.A. Guns will release a new album called Black Diamonds this April. One of the first songs from that effort is "You Betray." The song premiered on Eddie Trunk's SiriusXM show last week, but I missed it. I was waiting for it to appear on YouTube and now it has... complete with an official lyric video!

The guitar riff is more "chuggy" than typical Tracii Guns/L.A. Guns style. Sort of like an old school Black Sabbath meets NuMetal vibe. I'm not sure I dig the echo sound, but that could be my computer speakers more than anything. It is pretty clear that the guys in the band put a lot of work into these new songs and made a very concerted effort to push for a modern -- yet melodic -- sound. What do you think?

Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 2023 Nominees Announced

If you haven't already heard, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has nominated its newest group of inductees. The list includes George Michael, Iron Maiden, Rage Against The Machine, Willie Nelson, Soundgarden, The White Stripes, Warren Zevon and more. The full list is below.

The announcement of nominees also means the fan vote is open. You can vote every day. So far, the only two acts that have received my votes are George Michael and Iron Maiden. I have basically given up on Iron Maiden ever being inducted, but George Michael should be a slam-dunk, first ballot selection. I think Soundgarden is an easy add and so is Willie Nelson.

I will now brace for the comments which will include "Who cares, it's a joke!" and "It isn't even about rock music!" and of course "Why is Willie Nelson considered rock?!"

Vote on, my grumpy music family. Vote on!

Ozzy Osbourne Retires From Touring (For Real)

Age, illness, surgeries and accidents have all apparently caught up with the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne. This morning, Ozzy took to social media to announce his retirement from touring.

Ozzy simply can't handle the rigors of the travel part anymore. This announcement of ending tours does not mean Ozzy will never perform live again. In fact, his statement talks about finding ways to perform without so much travel.

Folks have been holding on to Ozzy tour tickets for a long time now, because previous shows were cancelled due to the pandemic and illness. You are now eligible for refunds.
