'Baby Come Back'

One of my guilty pleasures in the Yacht Rock station on SiriusXM. Sometimes I pop it on while I working because the tunes are great background music. The station is incredibly repetitive but it pretty much always cheers me up at least a little. Yacht Rock always reminds me of summer or a beach vacation. Since I loathe winter, I like to fantasize about being somewhere warm when it is snowing here in Ohio.

I was clicking around YouTube and listening to a really bad metal cover of a Backstreet Boys song and I noticed "Baby Come Back" by Player popped up on the side of suggestions. "Baby Come Back" is simply a great light pop tune - and it has a nice guitar solo to boot. The song was a #1 hit back in 1977. Enjoy!

Introducing The Bring Back Glam! Book Club

Happy New Year and welcome to 2021! To kick us off right, I thought it made sense to try something new. The new year means Bring Back Glam! is starting a monthly book club to encourage readership and discussion about books surrounding the music we love.

For years, I have long preferred reading non-fiction over fiction. I love history and there are so many great true stories to tell. I also love reading biographies of interesting people. Finance is another topic that I gravitate toward when it comes to selecting books. I am excited to have a book club to discuss music-themed titles with all of you.

Each month, I will select a title for discussion. I will announce that discussion day is coming so you can be prepared. I'll give my review of the book and start a discussion topic and hopefully you will join in through the comments section. I will eagerly be looking for your book suggestions in the comments as well so we get a nice broad spectrum of titles and music types covered. We won't read about Glam each month. This will help us discover new treasures. Hopefully this club will help us all read a little more too.

For the month of January, our first book is Son of a Milkman: My Crazy Life with Tesla by Brian Wheat

This book was high on my "to read" list anyway and since it just came out, I figured most will not have read it yet making it a good pick for our first group discussion. The Kindle version is ten bucks, so quite affordable. The downside to selecting a new book is that most libraries will not yet have a copy to loan.

I look forward to reading and discussing with you - and I hope you will join me!
