2023 Record Store Day 'Black Friday' Releases Announced

Record Store Day happens in April and also "Black Friday" in America. That's the day after Thanksgiving and the traditional start to the holiday shopping season.

There's some good stuff on the list this year including KIX, L.A. Guns and Skid Row. I am going for the special re-release of Kix Cool Kids. The Skid Row is a pressing of the cover album B-Side Ourselves originally released in 1992.

The L.A. Guns release is Live in Boston 1989. This previously unreleased live album features the band's classic lineup as well as track like "One More Reason," "Rip And Tear" and "Electric Gypsy."

Stevie Nicks Is A Total Doll

I happened to see this because Facebook suggested the Barbie page to me.

Apparently Barbie has a music series and now Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac fame will get the Mattel treatment. I have zero interest in owning a Stevie Nicks-Barbie but I am going to scroll the entire music series and see who else there is to choose from... and in case you were wondering, the Stevie Nicks doll is $55 and apparently sold out online.

Yes, the doll comes with a tamborine.

STYX Continue Las Vegas Residency

So this is happening: Styx are extending their Las Vegas residency and doing more shows, starting up again in January. To be honest, I think I'm over the residency thing, especially in Vegas. That said, I get why acts do them: less wear and tear on the body due to limited travel and cheaper production costs to stay in one place. All of that probably means more money, too.

STYX will be at the Venetian and tickets are available now.

Van Halen Vinyl Boxset Shipping This Week!

I posted about this awhile ago and now orders are shipping: Van Halen has a new boxset of remastered albums from the Sammy Hagar era of the band. There are also rarities included in this four-studio album set. The new set is called The Collection II. The collection's release date is October 6.

I like that Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony got together to take a little photo to promote the set.

Also I'm pretty sure I can actually see money coming out of Sammy Hagar's pores in this shot!
