Watch The 'Cannonball' Video Ye Matey!

L.A. Guns have a new video for their song "Cannonball," a track from the upcoming album Checkered Past. This clip is fun and very pirate-themed. Nice guitar solo work by Tracii Guns, too. This is definitely a nice rocker.

Steel Panther and Travis Tritt Rock Out

I'm no country fan, but Travis Tritt has been around forever so I'm familiar with some of his songs. I also think I ate at one of his restaurants once. Steel Panther love to have celebs join them on stage during shows, and Travis Tritt is the most recent on-stage guest. The crowd seems to enjoy it, even if it wasn't a traditional country-loving bunch. All in good fun and rock and roll, right?

Steve Perry To Release 'The Season' This November

I can't believe it is already the middle of September. Before you know it, we will be carving pumpkins for Halloween and planning menus for Thanksgiving... and then, Christmas. Most here know I am no real fan of Christmas music, but this news made me perk up a little: Steve Perry will release a holiday covers album called The Season.

Steve Perry, best known for his time in Journey, will release his first ever holiday record November 5. I am not sure who exactly the target audience is for this, but my mom will love it. She loves Steve Perry's voice, classic Journey and also Christmas music.

Want a sample? The second tweet has a little snippet of the album.

This Might Be The Most Metal PR Gimmick Of All Time

Winter is coming... but before that, Halloween will be here. A lot of readers here love the horror film genre (I'm looking at you, HIM!) so I just had to share this little side hustle opportunity: a finance company is looking for someone to watch 13 hours of horror flicks while monitoring heart rate and emotional response. The whole deal is about interpreting a film's budget to it's success at scaring the crap out of people. Now, one person does not a scientific study make, but this is a fun gimmick for the horror fan chosen to earn an easy $1,300 while literally doing nothing but watching movies. I tip my hat to FinanceBuzz because I doubt I ever would have mentioned them on this site, but this idea just screams metal.

News Of The Week Roundup: Week 36, 2021

This past week, the world paid tribute to the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. I try to avoid too much 9/11 coverage because I had nightmares about the the attacks back in the day. I worked in TV news then and spent hours upon hours of racking videos of the towers falling and people jumping to their deaths, etc. From what I did see this year, the tributes were very tasteful. I think it was nice that President Biden deferred and let former President Bush speak at one of the big memorial events. Bush was president when the attacks occurred and they defined his legacy.

The drama in the Fleetwood Mac camp continues. These people have never - and will never - get along.

The Delta variant of COVID-19 continues to cause havoc across America and the world. Too many vaccine-deniers are keeping the virus around and the rest of us are ready to move on. President Biden will require all federal workers and government contractors to take the vaccine. There is also an OSHA mandate for employers with 100 or more employees to get the shot or do weekly testing. So those opposed to the vaccine will still help the greater good by getting a test each week.

And I leave you with this...

'Rock and Roll All Nite' -- New Cover

Here's a fun cover of the KISS class "Rock and Roll All Nite." Green Day performed the song during the Hella Mega Tour and released the track and video officially yesterday. It's a great cover. The guys in Green Day did the original justice. It doesn't sound cartoony or corny. Just straight up rock and fun. Enjoy!

Reckless Love, 'Outrun' -- New Video

Reckless Love is a Glam band from Finland. There is a definite synth-pop thing going on in their new song "Outrun." Plus the singer Olli Herman looks like 80s Michael Monroe in this clip. (Yes, Olli Herman was known as H. Olliver Twisted while in Crashdiet). I thought this was a catchy new song to enjoy going into the weekend. What do you think?
