KIX to Open for Whitesnake

The title says it all: Kix will provide direct support for Whitesnake this summer at three Oklahoma dates.
Here are the shows:
8/4 First Council Casino with Whitesnake, Newkirk, OK
8/5 Lucky Star Casino with Whitesnake, Concho, OK
8/6 Choctaw Casino with Whitesnake, Durant, OK
This is exciting because it means KIX are continuing to book shows out of the Maryland area. Of course, I think KIX should headline. They were way better than Whitesnake at M3 this year and I suspect that to be the case in Oklahoma. There's just no competing with the energy that KIX bring to the stage and Whitesnake is using too much filler these days (yes, that means solos).
I wish I could go!

I saw Whitesnake at M3 and was a little bumbed out...they did not play slide it in and some other great stuff..They did, however, play some great tunes from the new album.
Kix is over the top. I live in MD and get to see them all the time, but after seeing them kick it at M3 as a headliner, I am totally convinced that they Rule the World. LOL.
They replaced Whitesnake last yr, when Coverdale had voice problems, and opened for Judas Priest. Amazing..by the way.
Now they are opening for WS in OK!! Wow. Plus...they are the BIG draw/headliner for the Monsters of Rock Cruise, set to sail in Feb.
The Dirty Boys are kickin it into high gear.
But the same cannot be said for Coverdale who's a heckuva lot older than Whiteman and probably needs the breaks to allow his voice and his body to endure an entire summer tour.
Give the cat a break! He's still got a helluva voice so be glad for what you can get out of him before he packs it in.
p.s. wish he would trade up that one dude on guitar for someone even better. I like Aldrich but the other dude's just okay. Personally, I dig the solos, but if you're gonna do extended ones, you gotta really get musician magicians on them thar geetarz! Most chix aren't into the extended solo thing (unless it's Jimmy Page circa '73, hahaha!!!), I've noticed over the years. Must be a guy thing.
I thought that was him but was too lazy to Google him to confirm.
Just curious, who are the other Mount Rushmore Guitarists, in your humble opinion?
gods. However I do believe a special reverence is deserving of George Lynch, Vito Bratta, Reb Beach and Warren DeMartini
I would, however, add one more to the pile...
Carlos Cavazo
Reb Beach, my humble apologies.
p.s. Who are we forgetting?
I agree Warren DeMartini belongs there and probably Cavazo too. Gotta put Slash there too being from the biggest L.A. glam/sleaze band ever.
At first I was hesitant to add Van Halen or Slash cuz there's so much debate as to their Glamitude, but I'm all for it based on your rationale, particularly VH's "Godfather" status.
Thought of another "Glam Metal Guitar God", now that you mention L.A. Glam/Sleaze...
Drum roll, please...
Tracii Guns
He's is one of THE Greatest Rock Guitarists Of All Time, and certainly up there with the rest we have mentioned. AND he was on the scene before Slash (who's guitar playing style is a tad indistinctive, IMHO).
Tracii
Huh-uh-lo-oh!!!
What about Michael Schenker?
I like your EVH/RR being Hendrix/Page analogy. I'll go with that.. :) If Eddie was responsible for how glam and even thrash/shred sounded (listen to "Loss of Control" off "Women and Children First"; there's a reason Dime loved them) than Randy was responsible for the whole classical music influence that some 80s era guitarists utilized.
Also..Hanoi Rocks. If EVH invented how glam/big hair/80s rock was supposed to sound, Hanoi invented how it looked; they took the Dolls' look and elevated it to eleven.. ;) That's why GnR will always be glam/sleaze to me; back in the day old Hollywood Rose were considered to be a Hanoi copy and not a necessarily good one. Agree that Tracii Guns is a better guitarist than given credit for.
