AOL Music Shuts Down, Noisecreep Is Done

AOL Music is shutting down... and the entire staff found out about it yesterday. Apparently all the full-time music staff (i.e. not freelance writers like me) were gathered in a conference room and let go. This means the end of Spinner, The Boot, The Boombox and yes, Noisecreep. No reason was given for the sudden layoffs. In case you're wondering, I wrote for Noisecreep for four and a half years -- the entire time the site existed.
AOL Radio seems unaffected by the changes.
We're sad to say that our site is shutting down. We'd like to thank EVERYONE for the years of support!

Evidently, it didn't get the plug pulled immediately.
My friend Chuck Wright (bassist in Quiet Riot/House Of Lords/Giuffria etc. ) new band "Heaven And Earth" just released their new CD last week & it's still up for streaming on AOL Music.

Bummer for those who lost a paycheck.
Though not everything discussed on that site is my bag, in the end, we're all Metalheads, so anything Metal getting shut down is a setback.
Something tells me however, they will come out with new sites in the future. How can a juggernaut like AOL stay away from another great revenue stream, if they can get the formula right.
Good luck to all the AOL Music staffers and may you, especially, Allyson, find an outlet as equally gratifying (or MORE!) than what you found at Noisecreep!
Maybe it's The Economy, but also, the competition.
Or maybe it's a "Metal Sequester"!
Whatever it is, it s*cks!
