The 2014 Rock Fest Lineup Rules

I've always wanted to attend Rock Fest. The event, scheduled for July 17-20, is held in Cadott, Wisconsin. The fest always has a great lineup. This year, Aerosmith is one of the headliners. As headliners go, it doesn't get much bigger than that!

Decent line-up with Aerosmith, Steel Panther and Cheap Trick but they'd have to play on the same day for me to attend this fest.

Thursday & Saturday would be OK. I wouldn't bother with the other 2 days.

Aerosmith is the only band I would really want to see and maybe Rob Zombie. I've seen Cheap Trick live before, they opened up for Motley Crue. They were god awful. No stage presence, the crowd was so dead during their set. Even that cheesy song "I Want You To Want Me" only got a small smattering of applause. The loudest crowd response Cheap Trick got was when they said goodnight and their set was over.

The day I see Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, Rob Zombie, and Five Finger Death Punch on the same bill, I will be so happy. Killer lineup. Would love to go to this.

Yeah, Buddy. You wouldn't know Rock & Roll if it hit ya in the face. Cheap Trick aren't God awful.

Cheap Trick are Gods!

Just ask Crüe, Kurt Cobain (if you could), Poison and Billy Corgan, among others, who absolutely walk the ground they walk on.

p.s. I've seen 'em point blank 8 times since 1979 and I can tell you, they are stunningly awe inspiring live and they are well known for being so.

Aside from Alter Sh*t and REO Crapwagon, the line-up isn't half bad. But not enough to get me out there.

Great venue, couple of killer days of lineups, other ones ? not so much. Rock Fest does it up right.

Buddy, are you talking about Motley Crue's 'Generation Swine' tour cause I saw Cheap trick open up for them and you are a 100% correct.

They stunk up the stage big time.
They were getting heckled & everything.
People were not digging them at all.
The got a lot of boo's.
They only played for like 20-25 minutes, they must of cut their set short because of the extremely negative response they were getting.
(Did they they play a really short set when you saw them?)

The funniest part about Cheap Trick was that before they came on stage.
The huge jumbotron TV in the back of the stage was playing skateboard videos of teens crashing & hitting their balls & the crowd was cheering like crazy.
BUT as soon as Cheap Trick came out it got really quiet.
They only got half the response that the skateboard videos did.

Cheap trick was hands down the worst concert I've ever been to.

They sucked the life out of the place.

I used to really like cheap trick, but not as much these days. They went sour for me when (true story mb), my wife and I fostered a really f*cked up teen who is a bona fide sociopath. I didn't realize this at first. It took me a long time to figure out his deal. Anyway, I turned him onto a lot music, cheap trick being one of em. CT ended up being one of his favorite bands; hence my current feelings about them. I even took him to a cheap trick/joan jett concert and LOVED it. CT does know how to rock.

I saw Cheap Trick with Poison and Def Leppard a few years back and I actually enjoyed CT more than I did the other bands. Maybe because I'd seen Poison and Def Leppard a number of times before.

Then I saw CT again last year with Aerosmith and didn't enjoy their show as much. Their set list included some lesser known mellower songs (I didn't know them anyway) and the crowd didn't seem too into it either.

They are a classic band though and deserve a ton of respect. Very talented and lots of great music.

p.s. I will always have a special place in my heart for Robin since he was my first marriage proposal at 15! Although he was joking, it was a memorable moment, nonetheless.

No, he is the real thing. Rita: I'll respond to you in a week or so.

I respect Cheap Trick. They're rock n roll legends. I would love to see them. I've heard from people that they are just phenomenal live. They probably didn't get respected live because generation after generation probably can't appreciate it.

Wooh hooh. Whooh hooh. Oh yeah, that's right.

I've had the misfortune of seeing Cheap Trick in concert and I'll just say that Buddy and Jakki are actually being nice about their experiences.

Cheap Trick are without a doubt the worst live band I've ever seen. I don't know how the hell that band ever was successful in the first place. They were just atrocious.

The only saving grace was that the ticket was free. You couldn't pay me to sit through another horrible Cheap Trick "concert".

You clowns really are clueless. Cheap Trick are one of THE best bands ever, live or on album. Listen to the first 3 albums. You just don't get the joke and that means it's on you.

Like I said before, just ask Crüe. In fact, when I saw Crüe last time, the last recorded song that was played over the PA before they the band took the stage was "Stiff Competition" off "Heaven Tonight". Also, Vince Neil covered "He's A Whore" off Trick's first album.

Maybe you ought to listen again, dudes.

You are the clown, metalboy. Just because everybody doesn't agree with you, doesn't give you free reign to be a dick. Nobody was talking shit about you. Calm down, get a hold of yourself.
March 28, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterBrian Esperes
Yes Jakki, it was on the Generation Swine tour and they did play a really short set maybe only like 6 or 7 songs at the most. That was fine by me, they just had no idea what they were doing on stage or with the audience. They really didn't know how to connect with the people in the crowd at all. It was odd almost like it was their first gig or something. I've seen unsigned local bands with better stage presence and interaction with the crowd.

You guys are so clueless. Obviously Cheap Trick appeals to a higher level of intelligence than what you guys represent here. They are known for their legendary live performances and CLASSIC first 4 albums.

Talk to Nikki Sixx about it if you don't want to face the delivery of the truth from me.
March 28, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Did metal boy just equate Nikki sixx with intelligence ? That's even funnier than the overall suggestion that cheap trick sick live because I am stupid :)
