Tesla, 'So Devine' -- New Track

Tesla has a new song out! The track is called "So Devine" and it is from the upcoming release Simplicity. What do you think? I'm always amazed at how consistent Tesla has remained over the years. I think Simplicity will be a very strong release for the band.

For a moment, I thought I had clicked on the "Seasons Of Whither" video again...

I always loved these guys because it was straightforward, no bullshit, laid back, bluesy, rock n roll. Love Tesla cool song.

I love Tesla, too. I'll buy this for sure.

What a SNORE fest.

These guys were and still are a complete borefest since the final mix of "Hang Tough", their last really good song.

You want "kick-ass", GNR?...

I suggest you consult "Hang Tough".

p.s. Very funny, Ace, as usual. Oh, and remember, these guys act like complete self entitled jacka*sses on The Monsters of Rock Cruise every year. Granted, I like a lot of bands who's members also have a streak of "premadonnaism". The only difference is, they're actually good.

Christian... Where you been, man?

You gonna be back in the U.S. anytime soon?

What a great song! These dudes always bring it! What s bunch of down to earth rockers! 2 years ago Hannon picked up the Rippers tab at the Japanese rest, this year JK bought 2 rounds at the pool stage. No wonder why MOR cruise keep having them back! They should be asked to be permanent headliners!!!!!

Haven't been a buyer since The Great Radio Controversy. Jeff Keith has gotten progressively more "nasaly" each and every record. No, thanks, I will stick with Metalboy and spin Hang Tough

Jack T, you're delirious! Zzzzzzzz!!!!

This is the d*mbest sh*t recorded by the lowest common denominator of self entitled a*sclowns to ever set foot on The monsters of Rock. I've seen 'em act like d*cks so many times on it! it's laffable.

Bon Voyage, TeslUGH! Feel free to walk the plank with 'em or better yet, use a diving board. Unless, of course, you decide to let them go and witness much more superior acts, some of whom have already signed on to play.

Tell ya what, I'll confess now... I won the lottery tonight, Wednesday, and the winnings are just about enough to cover doubling their fee they would normally charge to perform on the cruise. Instead they'll be compensated to do their boring live acoustical jam on Monster Island exclusively for you and no one else, as NO ONE else will be on the island and we're going to leave your as*es there.

p.s. Hey JTR, look at the bright side... At least we agree on Stryper, who is just so clearly, vastly superior to TeslUGH!, who should have gone back to tr*sh collection while we continue to exalt STRYPER on HIGH!!!

Boys will be boys, not much metal though...

I wish Metalboy! would just come out and state what he thinks about Tesla. It is so hard to get a read on his opinion. Sorta' like his ambivalence about Iron Maiden. I wish he (and Ace) would just tell us what they think.

I kid, of course, gentlemen. But how about I split the difference on this one? I don't fault Tesla for consistency. Many a band has made its name and staked its claim to fortune on being consistent (Saxon with one or two minor diversions, AC/DC, Kix, etc.). Nor do I fault them for being asshats. If that was a measure of judgment, most of the bands I liked would get thrown out (because the singer has LSD or the bass player has as big an ego as his gut, and so on).

No, I fault them for being the Black Crowes of Metal. One or two spikes on the interest meter and the rest plods along with a flatline "meh." I stress that this is just my opinion. They are fine enough live. They just don't grab me.

But what do I know? I like Omen.

Yeah, Him... Hey, and what do I know? I even think AOR Puff Metalists Honeymoon Suite and Harem Scarem are better than these neanderthals.

By the way, if you reread my comments above and elsewhere on all the recent posts about a Tesla (Do they have a PR agency feeding all of this cr*p?), I qualify my statements with the same points you make as to the notion of me still liking a band even though some of their members are total pr*cks, for instance (i.e. Vince Neil), Mötley Crüe, or as*sclowns (i.e. Brett Michaels) as there is in Poison. The difference is, those bands are good. I even forgive them for being inconsistent because the great music from them towers over TeslUGH!'s.

Thank you, HIM, for finally letting down your veil of diplomacy and finally revealing your true feelings about Teslug (paragraph 3). It's a commentary WORSE than saying they s*ck. You are saying they are mediocre, a fate far more terrible than saying they're terrible, indeed.

All their recent stuff is so calculated to appeal to their fan base (Gannon desperately hawking merch on That Metal Show when he and Jeff appeared together is an indication), while one gets the feeling RATT really put their heart and soul into their last (now looking to be truly their last unless they can sort out their internal issues) album, "Infestation".

Even though it's got their classic sound, albeit, a tad more sophisticated, you feel like they still made that album for themselves.

You can hear the contrast "in the grooves" of the two bands latest output.

In Tesluff's latest "product", all I hear is disingenuous calculation. Even their videos show it in their faces.

And if others don't see it, or more importantly, HEAR it, you're stupid suckers they're taking advantage of have no barometer for quality.

And, that's when self appointed "Rockstars" like these jerks thinking their God's gift to this green earth is something they simply shouldn't get away with.

In other words, they don't have the goods to back it up. 1 truly killer song ("Hang Tough") and 3 or 4 good ones, does not a great band make. Same goes for Prog Metal Pretenders, Iron Maiden and even blacksmiths, Metallica (okay, the latter's first 3 albums are great)

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you one big final yawn on the subject (for the moment, until another drive-by troll rolls up defending "Mediocre Metal"). Zzzzzzzzzz....

One of those classic Metalboy! posts I have grown to love over the years.

The odd thing about Tesla is, if they had mined the grooves (a nice tip of the hat to analog, Metalboy!) they laid down on their one or two really good songs, I might have gone along for the ride. I suppose I like the exceptions, not the rule, with them.

Ratt's latest (heck, let's extend it beyond metal: AiC's and Soundgarden's latests as well) has a sound that is reinvigorated, classic but not stale. You know it is "them" and that makes you smile. Tesla makes me go, "oh, okay."

Between Bobby Blotto and Stephen Princely, it was never meant to last. Even getting Croucier back, I was worried the same ole same ole was gonna happen. And it did. I hope they stay true to their word and get the album out.

I guess DiMartini gets the importance of sticking with the originals by now.

Hopefully, they'll sort the bodies out legally and otherwise so Princely (Hilarious, HIM!) will come back cringing Blotto along with him.

ALL wearing factions should realize they have so much to lose (like fans!), as they will be the heir apparent to the throne of L.A. Metal once Crüe hangs it up and since Poison can't be taken seriously with a*sclown, Barret Micfails.
May 13, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
I think, and I am sure someone can/will correct me, that DeMartini is the one member of the band who doesn't actually need the band to survive. That said, Croucier seemed to do okay away from the band as well.

So both Blotzer and Pearcy are really showing their stripes, ego- and arrogance- (and likely substance-) wise.

And I think you are right Metalboy! If they could put out something even close to _Infestation_ (and tour behind it) they could maintain a degree of momentum.
