W.A.S.P. 'Golgotha' -- Lyric Video

Collectively, I think this site has more W.A.S.P. fans than just about anywhere else, other than the band's Facebook page. You should be excited, then, that W.A.S.P. just released a lyric video for their new song "Golgotha" off the album of the same name. Since W.A.S.P. is basically a religious band now, you shouldn't be shocked at all the religious themes in the track. Metal is Metal after all. Discuss.

can I still nail asses to the sheets with this song? Ah well, it seems that blackie went from reading the old testament to reading the new, while incorporating the tea party, fox republicans and a hint of rick santurom and ted cruz in to the mix. Honestly though, he probably supports that racist d*ckhead, donald trump. What can I say? Blackie Lawless jumped the shark!

Regardless of any musicians political/religious views, it boils down to if it is a good song or not. Even if I don't agree 100% all of the time to Blackies lyrics or say Michael Sweets lyrics, the music is what matters. Look at Tom Araya, Phil Labonte, or Dave Mustaine, there is always unneeded "controversy" due to lyrical content or what is said in the press. Every review I've read about the new WASP album has had some kind of negative thing to say about beliefs, personal choices, and lyrical content. Musicians change/grow, as well as everybody else on the planet. Great song, sorry for the rant, haha.

Oh, man, call me crazy (wouldn't be the first time, I'm sure) but I think this is excellent!

Yeah, obviously, Lawless has lost the plot (he did years ago) but that doesn't stop this from being TOTALLY killer! Though the lyrics are clearly of the Christian Metal order, Lawless, manages to play it both ways where you could take the word "Jesus" as an exclamation not just as a name, i.e. "Jesus, it's hot out here.", or what have you. And what about that solo at the end?! Burnin'!

And as far as the video itself goes, even if it still feels a tad homespun, it's still epic as h*ll (Sorry, Jesus.) though we could probably do without the blood spurting from Jesus' head up on the cross.

Fletch, moniker? Its my real name!

I agree with several of you. I could care less what Lawless believe or how he crafts his lyrics, so long as they are in tune with and in service to a good song. This seems to qualify.

Metal is an inclusive type of music. We welcome a lot of diverse views and lifestyles into our crushed velvet tent: Pinnick and Halford (gay), Araya and Butler (dedicated Catholics), Cooper and Mustaine (born again), Draiman and Portnoy (self-absorbed and mildly delusional). And that is just the white-bread list. There are a host of others, fans and artists, who fly the metal flag while doing and believing what they want.

If Lawless can keep the fans he has, win back some that he lost, and perhaps gain a few more who are inspired by his message, so be it. As at least one poster on here has educated me: Lawless is an odd duck and an interesting case. But he is also talented and focused when he wants to be, intelligent and driven as well.

Only one thing: no more "recorded in a tin can with a hobo who knows Holmes producing" stuff like _Helldorado_. That is a bridge too far!

JTR: café wha?

anytime, jack...anytime.

Indeed, HIM... Fortunately, this doesn't sound like it's recorded in a tin can. In fact, far from it... more like Valhalla... And you are right again about the lyrics... As I mentioned, they can be read two ways, as a direct call to Jesus or as a exclamation, with Lawless invoking the Lord's name in vain, such as, "Jesus, Chris Holmes turned out nuttier than me!"

Him: "Lawless is an odd duck and an interesting case. But he is also talented and focused when he wants to be, intelligent and driven as well."

Damn. Couldn't you just go with "Lawless has 'amotivational syndrome" and be done with it. j/k. hope all is well! peace/rock on!
